you keep saying that this claim is obviously mafia motivated but i struggle to see how trading a wolf for a watcher benefits the wolf team when they can just night kill the person they think is the watcher anyway

Mafia making stupid plays is OK because mafia's goal is to build up chaos.
Town making stupid plays is TERRIBLE, because you're basically ruining the game for yourself in the process.
Giving the context for the game, and how claimed were treated d1, the logical explanation is a gambit that ness took as mafia.
If you can give a logical town explanation you can pop-off. But until then stop defending ness.

It's more on the fact that Epona is king and scumread me anyway, so if I was to keep quiet I could have been lynched and no benefit to town anyway.
I can think of a reasonable explanation for why anyone would do this as mafia, but no one has yet to give me a valid explanation as to why Ness would do this as town, yet you're all treating Ness as if there was a reason.
