ok, so heres the thing with the pyrotechnics.

I love fire. I love blowing stuff up. I love fire works. I love burning wood, plants, animals, people, you name it. It's awesome.

I would REALLY love to see a nest of hornets go up in smoke too. I feel like my entire life has lead up to such a moment.

However, this nest is really really close to my deck. I am not really skilled in pyrotechnics, so to speak. I am a bit afraid some thing would catch fire close to my home, and by proximity burn my house down. I'm a bit of a fret when it comes to that sort of thing. Fires terrifying, and I'm not properly insured, my land lord has yet to sign any agreements with me. If my house burns down, I lose EVERY thing.

So I'm kind of really iffy on the whole fire idea.

Mike,then put on a lot of clothing,do you have a jacket,hat,etc?I just looked it up,and a website says they will literally kill themselves.The queen will leave sometime this year to make a new nest and the rest of the yellow jackets should die.Not sure if it's true.

Funny story, last night when I went to spray the nest, I put on gloves, a hat, jacket, pants, shoes, every thing.

I sprayed the nest like crazy, and still ran in terror. Nothing came out, I figured I got them, but today they were back in full force. Even in armor, I'm still terrified. It's horribly embarrassing.

Who wants to come over here and do it for me? I'll pay you in time holding, petting and hanging out with my rats.

On topic: Good luck OP. If that nest was near my house I'm pretty sure I would have to move out. I got stung once and have been scared of them ever since.

All right, I took your guyses advice and while it is dark I placed a large rock over the hole they've been entering and exiting, and ran like a sissy. Lets see what happens next.

Just incase you weren't aware, you can put hot water and soap in a spray bottle and supposedly it kills wasps instantly o:
It could be a good defense weapon.
