Is anyone else disappointed by the 10-villager limit?

The only way I could understand the 10 villager cap is if we were able to build actual buildings such as schools/libraries/restaurants (a al Happy Home Designer) but that doesn't seem to be the case... at least not yet.

i said that's what you could use the 8 player characters for.

anyway it seems you kinda just made this thread to debate and im not rly interested in that so.

I think it wouldn’t be such a problem, if we only could have multiple Islands. But yeah, I miss the 15 Villager Limit. I remember that I always tried to find every single Villager in Population Growing and talk to them at least once.

I am glad that I still have my GameCube and my original Animal Crossing Disc. Because I know for sure, that I will defiantly start a new Town again at a certian point, just for the experience. New Horizon is fun and all, but the Original will never be beaten.

This might be wishful thinking but I organized my island with space for two extra villagers if the ever let us have more. 12 I think is a good number.

And this game let you decide how many villagers you have, so you can manually cap at 8 (because you need them for a 3 star rating)

The other day I de-forested and removed the river from my island in preparation of my island landscaping overhaul. Before I did this, it felt like I didn't have a lot of space to work with so I was pretty okay with the 10 villager limit. After doing so though, I realised just how much space we have to work with this time around and I would have really loved the limit being upped to 12. :'3

That's an interesting perspective. I put down all the plots before unlocking terraforming and had no issues whatsoever, and have only really considered moving my house at this stage to be up the hills. But that's not going to happen any time soon. I've got too many loans to pay.
I think it's just cause of the way my map layout was in the beginning. I was so excited to play at midnight I didn't bother resetting at all for anything so it came back to bite me later on haha. But rn I can see myself making room for more homes!!

I actually feel like it's crowded! I like having around 8, but I guess I'll have to get over it.

what I would like over more villagers is more shops. I hope they add them in the future!

Yea, part of me was hoping we were going to bring back some nostalgia of the GC days and it would return to 15 villagers. I kind of like the even number setup so 12 would have been amazing if not 14. I think it easily could have been handled too as it already is (you buy the plots from Nook, so if you want less than the max it's no problem).

i feel kind of split on this, on one hand it's really hard to choose just 10 villagers since there's so many that i love and want to have with me, but i do feel like it would feel a little crowded, especially if you do like having very landscaped/terraformed areas. also, with 10 villagers you only need to have 2 repeat personalities, but with 12-15 there would be way more and i feel like the dialogue would get very repetitive very fast.

But what if 2 or more Villagers could live in one House?
I was always wondering, why there isn’t something like a Shared Apartment already. I think that would be a cool idea.

it's hard because while i would love to have more villagers (i would've been happy with up to 12) i feel like i'm still running out of space lol. with the ability to put furniture outside and creating and terraforming areas, i've personally found it harder to map out areas for villagers and leaving enough space for their "yards" as well.

I only have 7 plots down and that has been a struggle. I'm totally fine with the limit of 10, but I can see wanting more if you are able to plan the space for it.

Yes, I get that they want to reserve the spaces for additional players but the whole tactic of pushing the family dynamic by Nintendo is getting a bit annoying.
While I know that some people might be sharing their Switch with their children or significant other... are you really going to be playing with Grandma and Grandpa, too?
I guess I'm just a bit bitter because I have so many villagers that I'd like to have on my Island (especially now with their new improved designs) that I feel we should at least be given a choice - if we don't want to create additional players, we should be allowed to place more plots for villagers. I, for one, am the sole player on my Switch and the most I see myself doing in the distant future is creating an additional character to give their house some kind of a diner/restaurant theme... but that's about it.
Also, with the large amount of space we are given, I feel that with 10 villagers only about 1/4 of my island is actually inhabited.
Sorry for the rant. I'm not sure how good Nintendo are at actually listening and taking people's input into account (because don't get me wrong - I absolutely LOVE this game) but I wonder if there's at least some hope that they'll reconsider this in the future to go up to 12 villagers at the very least.

I do have an extra Switch and back in my NL days, I actually ran 2 towns just to get more villagers I loved - but the game started losing charm for me soon after as it was really hard to keep up with, so I don't want to fall into the same trap again.

What are your thoughts on this?
Am I the only one who feels a tad bit disappointed?

I got destroy on this forum when I mention my disappointment, one of it being the low # of villagers. Only a few came to my aid. Pretty sure that thread got over 100 replies.

I think the dialogue is not the strongest it could be. I was fine with them only creating 8 new villagers but I wish they could've expanded on new personality types so dialogue isn't repetitive.

I think 12 wouldve been a good cap especially since you can just choose to not buy plots if you want to have a smaller population.

However even with terraforming unlocked I am having issues finding spots for my 9th and 10th villagers. I'm sure once I get everything situated I can find spots easily but for now it's a bit difficult.

That because the map is way too small.

I honestly don't think it's small at all. I think the addition of cliffs and third level cliffs are making it seem small... I leveled out a good amount of my island and it feels a LOT bigger now. I feel like I have way too much empty space now when before I felt like I didn't have enough.

I'm fine with it, in fact I'm keeping my island at 9. Even though there are lots of awesome villagers, I just don't have that much good house space. I also feel like it's easier to connect and keep up with a smaller number.

When I get online membership, you should come on by and see for yourself. My map is literally cover with trees and flowers. There just no space anywhere outside of the main part of the island for housing. And it not like I had more trees or flowers in NL either. Though small map or not I still would like 16 villagers to 20 villagers.

Doesn't bother me o: I just wish the island was a tad bit bigger. With terraforming also taking up more space (also more inclines), it feels a little small. If we had more villagers im not sure if I would be able to fit everything.

I'm so busy finding space for my villagers I completely forgot to find a space for myself 😓

I think the option to have more should be available to us - I never said that everyone should be obliged to have 10+.
I get that villagers are not everyone's priority as some people are more into terraforming and landscaping in general.
But as it stands now , you can do with just 7 and be fine.
I just wish we had that option for the people who find the most charm in discovering different villagers.
