I also wish it had a bit more going for it. But as many have said, it's cool for the posters and I had a blast using amiibo cards to make a photo of my old town villagers Wish it would give you photo challenges for furniture or something at least.
Amiibo Festival was the most pointless. At least with Harv's island you can preview room designs with every furniture you have in your catalogue ahead of time instead of ordering all of them and possibly regretting it later. Plus the villager posters are pretty nice.
I think it would have been okay if it were a surplus feature, however ?I can't help feeling 'they got rid of the cafe, observatory, leifs shop etc for THIS?!'
Which I know isn't really fair because they didn't 'get rid' of those features for that, but I DO with they'd spent the time creating Photopia just implementing things we had before... Or at least if they'd made Harv's Island a campsite for retired special characters, like Tortimier and Joan. I love Harv but I'm literally never going to use that Island....
I really love going to his cabin and taking pictures. I need to drag out my photos of the skeezy diner I set up and took pictures of. It is fun to dress different villagers that I don't normally see up and test out different room designs. If anything, it makes it even more addicting to collect furniture so you can have even more options for room set ups. I can see this being a late game feature.
That being said, I really do think they should have made Harvey a vendor too. Make it so that we could get some special DIY recipies or different types of furniture or something. And I am really sad that there are no amiibo cards for the new villagers or even for Harvey himself. I would have loved to drag him into the cabin for pictures too.
Personally, it's pretty useless to me. But I heard a rumor that it's the way you can villager posters without amiibo, so I may investigate it sometime soon.
