is it "Bear-doh" or "Beer-doh"?

I'd say it's "Beard-o" (it rhyme's with weirdo) considering he's a bear with a rather prominent beard.

That was my reasoning too I love Beardo, I had him in my New Leaf town, didn't like him at first, thought he was weird, but he eventually became my favorite

I, too, have been saying "beer-doh"! I feel like the spelling is probably a play on both bear and beard (even if it's more of a moustache), but the alternate "bear-doh" pronunciation hadn't occurred to me. Now that I think about it, I'm really wondering what Nintendo's intended pronunciation was, but since most people seem to be using "beer-doh", I think I'll just stick with using that.

I always pronounce it "beer-do" because he has a beard and that he is really weird. Honestly you could pronounce it either way but thats how I pronounce his name.

Just to add to the discussion, this is from Nookipedia regarding Beardo's name:

His name is a combination of the words "Bear," his species; and "beard." His Japanese name, Baird, sounds similar to both words.

And this is supposed to be his Japanese name along with the Japanese pronunciation.

In Japanese, to my knowledge the word for facial hair is all the same. They don't distinguish between mustache, beard, goatee, etc. So I do believe the original intent of the name was to be a reference to both his species and his facial hair. It just doesn't translate as well to English because of our pronunciation.

I'll still stick with calling him 'Beerd-oh'.

I've always said "bear-do", more of a play on his species than facial hair/fur. Especially since, in NL when I had him, he seemed like a Watson kind of character. So "beer-do" just didn't fit, for me.

I've always said "beer-do" but I did question that when I saw this. I decided that if it were "bear-do", it would make more sense to be "bear-doo", which it isn't. No sense asking how I came to this conclusion, I have no clue lol. Perhaps it was my way of justifying "beer-do"

My dad would pronounce it as beer-doh during the dawn of New Leaf (2013), but IDK, bear-doh makes more sense.
