Is it weird that I kinda don't wanna terraform my island a lot?

I tried terraforming, but it came out looking funky and not at all the way I intended it, so I undid it. Lol

Been leery of trying it again since then. So, not so weird. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I tried a bit of terraforming and some parts look okay,, when I first started some areas look fu nk y but once I moved things around it looked decent,

I don't either. I want to preserve what the game gave originally me.

I've straightened out some rivers and added some cool waterfalls but most of the island will be kept the same.

My friend came over and complimented my rivers looking super natural. I was like thanks I barely touched them.

I feel like I am refining my town through terraforming rather than transforming it. I liked a lot of my map to start with, and Iโ€™m making slow changes as I think of them.

It's definitely not weird! I'm not doing any terraforming on my island. I did a tiny bit - made a small pond on one of my cliffs, and made a river look a bit more natural than it did before. On top of all of that, I'm not really doing anything else on my cliffs at all. Everything from stores to villagers homes to the camp site is on the ground level and I plan on keeping it that way. I'm letting the cliffs keep their "natural wild" form, so to speak. It's how I like it, so that's how it's going to be!

I felt the same way with creative block while planning my island, so I tend to start small changes on my island until Iโ€™m content and terraforming does makes me stressed sometimes because I tend to be a perfectionist at this kind of stuff.

Nothing is weird in AC! Its all about your personal preferences. I love water features so I may add more lakes and waterfalls in the future but I"m happy with my island at the moment.

I've only terraformed to have enough space to put all my villager's houses together. The rest of the island I haven' touched.

It's not weird at all. :) I don't know why I spent all of those nook miles for the terraforming tools when I pretty much only make paths. After all, mother nature is the best architect. ๐ŸŒฟ

Yeah not weird.
When I started the game I chose my island map because I liked the shape of its winding river, so apart from a few very minor tweaks the river is largely unchanged. I have extended the second level of cliffs on the west side of the island though but only because it made it easier to layout some features I had in mind.
Overall, my map is still really similar to when I first started and thatโ€™s fine by me because I like the look of the map I chose and I prefer more natural looking towns.

I did very minimal terraforming as well! I got rid of part of the river to give myself some more space and made some room for an incline in a cliff, smoothing it out afterwards, but that's it.

Nope. I also didnโ€™t plan to terraform my entire island but it ended up that way. Lol. I think the beauty of this game is in that no map will end up the same because weโ€™re allowed to personalize it to our heartsโ€™ content.

I like to of the terraforming features in ACNH as basically giving us the freedom to do as much or as little as we want to our islands :) I've only made like small adjustments to the rivers (so I get more land space) and a mini island but thats about it. Cliff terraforming is too overwhelming for me haha

No, not at all. I've barely touched my island. Just a little nip 'n tuck to even out an incline, make a nicer pond or get a bridge just where I want it. Otherwise, my island is pretty much as I found it and I expect to keep it that way.

Not weird at all! It has its own form of charm and if people can create amazing towns in past games without this mechanic, so can you! It also saves you a lot of time and stress if you ask me.

That's totally fine and not weird at all, I don't want to do so much to my island as well but we'll see once I get to terraform lol

no i felt this early on as well. i really liked my island layout. but of course i slowly changed it now. area by area to not get overwhelmed.

My island looks pretty much the same as day 1... I terraform mostly small changes for convenience (like even-ning up the river for a bridge) or things that annoy me (a random third tier area, a pond that was in the middle of a path, or access to the secret beach.) I have ideas but no set plan. I find this way of small changes is best for me so I don't feel overwhelmed or like I've messed up. My town upfront is pretty suburban, but in the back it's very foresty, and I'm good with that. I like the natural look.

That's how AC games used to be up until now. Before I had ideas for my island I was mostly interested in fixing rivers for bridge and house placement.
