I've seen a lot of thoughts surrounding this topic so I thought that we should discuss it. Is using items in Brawl cheap, "noobish", or unfair?

Personally I think it's perfectly fair and it's what sets Brawl separate from other fighting games. Items add to the chaos of the game. To say it's cheap it really isn't because each person has an equal chance to get an item. Brawl (and every other fighting game) is a game where you need to be able to react to your opponent's moves so adding items only means you need to react more, meaning you need to be better at the game to be able to do so.

Thoughts?

Okay, so I'm playing on final destination. 1v1, and we're at opposite sides of the stage. An item falls out of the sky right where they are standing, all the way across the stage from me. Now how is that fair? How is that having an equal chance to get the item?

Well its supposed to be random. Then again, when Tingle spawns 5 hammers, its a pain in the *CEN-1.0-SORD*. '.'

Waaait.

Who thought Items were unfair?! For one thing, why put them in a game, if they are unfair? And, if you were playing the game for the purpose that this was made for (fun), than you wouldn't care either way if they won because of an Item.

Besides, lots of Items don't necessarily kill you either.

I don't play for fun, its my LIFE. :|

Same here (to a somewhat lesser extent), but that still doesn't mean that losing when an Item randomly spawns is the end of your life. :brrrr:

I have a virtual reality helmet and when I play as Luigi or Zero Suit Sa...- wait...

I'll be right back.

I don't like items. They're okay for people who are new or just being casual about Brawl, or for when you just want to fool around, but if you want to play in a tournament, you better be used to not depending on items.

It does take some skill to use items properly. Noobs don't know when to perfectly launch a Final Smash or a homerun bat. Pokeballs take skill to position, so does team healer. There are a few cheap items, but skilled playes should learn to dodge most of them like hammers and beam swords.

You should at least keep the Final Smash on though.
Those are suprisingly easy to dodge, I don't see why people think they're unfair.

I commonly see them miss. C Falcon's car, Kirby's Pot, K Dedede's Waddle Dees.

The Final Smashes are so uneven between the characters though, just look at Sonic's. You could kill everyone on screen with it. While some of the other ones don't do anything at all.

If you ever plan on playing competitively, do not do that.

Imo, if you want some fun, go ahead and play with items, but please do not judge those who do not like items. Everyone has fun in different ways, some with items and some without. I prefer no items, but I don't care if someone does prefer items.

Items are nooby and stupid. I might use a few items (pokeball, assist, and smash ball) every once in a while, but I really try to avoid even turning them on because I have realized how ******** they are.

Is noob your new favorite word?
