An item falls out of the sky right where they are standing, all the way across the stage from me. Now how is that fair?

Life isn't fair. And what happens when you're on the end the item drops onto?

You get an unfair advantage, and I'm not saying OMG YOU HAVE TO PLAY WITH NO ITEMS.

It does take some skill to use items properly. Noobs don't know when to perfectly launch a Final Smash or a homerun bat. Pokeballs take skill to position, so does team healer. There are a few cheap items, but skilled playes should learn to dodge most of them like hammers and beam swords.

Thanks for saving me the time. That's exactly what I think of items- They help you just as much as the 2-month old baby you're losing to.

People that are agains items judge those who like items more often.

Items give a random advantage to whoever is closer to the item. if you get a Lynn, I'm screwed. If I get a Lynn, you're screwed. It just randomly gives whoever gets it a boost, which can turn around the entire match, making so that a noob can easily beat a pro, which is just plain wrong.

just for clarification... Here's a list of items I can stand. Although obviously I won't use any of these in a competitive match.

Containers and Crates (duh)
Blast Box, takes strategy and thinking
Dragoon, makes for interesting strategy.
Metal Box, has ups and downs, more of a "give up some stats for other stats" rather than a random upgrade.
Beam Sword
Gooey Bombs
Smart Bombs
Smoke Balls
Bumpers
Springs
Soccer Balls
Team Healers
Franklin Badges

I tend to play with everything but the Dragoon and Starman on when it's just me and my friends.

But online, I turn off the FS, Dragon, Starman, Hammers, Assists......yeah. And all other items are set to low.

I like some, I hate some...

ANYWAY. My view on items is simple... great for regular matches, but meh for "serious" matches.

I'm talking skill-based matches. It's like... compare a casual bout of Mario Kart with a chess match. The former is, well... casual. You don't really care if you win or lose. With a serious chess match, you're probably playing to win.

The only item I hate is the Dragoon. Its a ****** fest to get it and is just like a final smash.
