I’m still not having any luck with finding the glowing moss or vines do I need to have the HHP paid dlc to be able to find these items ?

Those islands have 18% probability of getting. You just have bad RNG.

You could also try and get a good belongings fortune from Katrina to be able to get rare islands from Kapp'n.

Yah, you don't need the DLC (though that makes them easier to get, since that island grows them as well), but it's random and unlikely to find them. I've been to quite a few islands and only found 2 of the vine/moss ones (some other islands may have vines or moss, though).

The good news is, if/when you do find, it seems they're guaranteed to have a special DIY that uses the moss or vines on them! And there are some CUTE DIYs that use them

Still no luck with finding the vines yet I did find some new vegetables though

Thank you I wasn't aware you could get items from Katrina I will look into that.

Let me clarify.

You can get items from Katrina, but only after you get back luck and pay her 1,000 to purify it. And she'd only ask for purification if you have at least 10k bells in your pocket.

There are 4 types of fortunes which she literally says: money, belongings, health, and friendship. When you get a good "belongings" fortune, you are guaranteed to get a rare Kapp'n island and your tools won't break. No item involved.
