I'm torn. Part of the fun of a new AC game is an entirely new town. However, at this point, I've sunk almost six years into my NL town, and I'm immensely fond of it even if I sometimes neglect it.

I think I'm leaning towards a new town, but not entirely sure.

I really want to start over and try to play without time travelling, for once. (And also without having all of the money from seeling my previous towns).

Definitely starting fresh! It's a new game and I want to experience every bit of it.

No doubt, start anew. I remember the feelings of freedom, exploration and creativity when I first started new leaf. With all the new features, all the upgrades that NL provided just made me so happy that I was able to do what I wanted with the town. Sometimes, I miss those days where my town was an open area, no restrictions, run where ever I like, no worries.

I've come close to resetting the whole town a couple of times just to feel refreshed again. Because my town I'm currently in is really close to it's full completion and the town is really small once you get used to it, you know every turn, every shortcut, every house and flower. I've wanted a new map to explore and learn. I miss not being restricted to a path just so I don't trample a few rare hybrids. This might sound silly but, I miss getting lost around town sometimes.

The problem is I've poured too many hours into New Leaf and Leston that it feels wrong to throw it all away. This is a dilemma I've had moving on from all Animal Crossing games I've played but it's worse now because being the Mayor and whatnot. I've wanted to feel the joy of a new start for so long that I'm happily starting a new town in the Switch Release. Might try juggle between NL and NS versions.

Although, I've recently been trying to spice up my time in New Leaf, I've change my HHA theme, planning to sell a large majority of my furniture and clothing to start again with items and clean up. I've tried to give myself more, harder goals to reach, and it honestly helps! If anyone feels the same as me, try to aim for higher achievements, it can maybe help you too!

Oh man, longest post I've ever posted here in the forums I think. Although it was fun to get that all out there.

Definitely a new town. For me, a huge part of the Animal Crossing experience is starting from scratch and building something beautiful. The progression really makes me love the game the way I do. Everything from filling the catalog, catching every creature, collecting furniture etc. etc. I just love it so much! If I were to transfer my save (if that will even be a feature) a lot of the collecting fun would be gone.

There is just one problem however... I have no clue what to name my new town yet! :(

new town for me, in my opinion i dont think it would feel like a new game if you could transfer towns (if someone did choose to do so)

Yep, and the only time this could ever happen in an Animal Crossing game anyway was when Japanese players could move their towns from + to e+, which was easy since they were both GameCube games that relied on the console's memory cards. I'm not saying it would be impossible for towns to be transferred from New Leaf to the Switch game, but the case from + to e+ in Japan is the only example (none of the Japanese or non-Japanese games before Wild World could have their towns transferred to it, nor could Wild World towns be transferred to City Folk, and also City Folk towns couldn't be transferred to New Leaf). The closest that has happened to anything ever since was that when City Folk came out in 2008, players could transfer their characters from Wild World, but as I stated before, not their towns.
This actually caused a problem in Australia because the copies of Wild World and City Folk had to be of the same region, and because the DS is a region-free system, when Wild World came out in 2005, Australian players just simply received imports of the American game. However, as the Wii is region locked, and of course, Australia (as well as New Zealand) is in the PAL region along with Europe, this meant that Nintendo Australia had to send a patch out for Australian copies of City Folk (known as Let's Go to the City there) in order to accept the characters from the copies of Wild World which were actually American.

I'd go with a new town. I want to see what sort of maps they'll have available this time around. Will they bring back the split rivers like in ACWW? Or would the maps be similar to ACNL? Either way, I wanna pick a fresh map.

I would start with a new town, especially if we can get split rivers like in ACWW. Having a little island was really cool.

Also, I'm assuming the towns will be bigger than ACNL, so we wouldn't get the option, anyway.

I am simply too attached to my town for me to not keep it
after all my town is not finished yet and I still have many great ideas for designing my house. Although I will create a new town in animal crossing switch I might still come back to new leaf and play it when I feel like it

Since I have two gamer profiles on my Switch, I'd definitely transfer my all-bunny town to my main profile and create a new town for my other one.

Totally start fresh. I'd want to experience rebuilding again, and use new mechanics if they are added.

I voted as "not sure" when I first read this topic, and since I've had time to think about, my final word is that I wouldn't want to move my town, it's from 2013, and even with other copies that I have (2), I still wouldn't keep them

i want a fresh start! I'm proud of my nl town but my taste and style have changed drastically since then

I'd wanna start fresh, whenever I have new copies of Animal Crossing, I like that I get to have a whole new range of experiences.
