Least favorite social media platform?

twitter. i don't get the point of it, and i don't understand the need to constantly update a bunch of strangers or even friends/family on what you're doing at every given moment. facebook is the same way, but at least there's a little more to it than just very short text posts/pictures.

i'm not too fond of facebook either for pretty much every reason everyone's already mentioned, but it's good for something to skim through while i'm bored. i also use facebook messenger a ton, so rip.

All of them. My online existence is limited to various forums and message boards. I'm far too private a person to put all of my business out there, and the amount of information people are cool with sharing on sites like Facebook is something I couldn't even think about doing.

I'll just hang here in my perpetual state of hermitage, thanks.

Actually it is because I am a busy person that has little time to go out with friends, but thanks for assuming things! Stop putting down people who enjoy different websites than you thanks. It is much easier to just tweet what I am doing than personally message the dozens of people in my life at times.

What did you expect to see on a thread about bashing social media sites? People saying how awesome Twitter is? You're welcome by the way. I put the ass in assume.

Personally, twitter. It seems limited.

I have a love/hate relationship with FB. I like that I can keep in touch with my friends on it, and see updates on news, stores, people, etc. But the design is so boring.. What happened to theme customization like back on the myspace days? Personalizing your profile to express yourself with themes and little html widgets. I miss that. Also, I guess I'm old fashioned, but I still find it incredibly weird that Facebook has made is socially acceptable to use our first and last names as a standard. If I recall correctly, I remember using your real name on social media back when I was a kid/teen was a big no-no, and myspace names always were a quirky username/display name. Facebook is always changing things too, and their advertisements are abundant. The mobile apps are always adding new features but they never put in the description what they changed, which is extremely annoying. FB messenger needs an overhaul. Remember MSN, yahoo, and aol messenger? Yeah those were the bomb. Why can't FB implement traits from those messengers. Things like talking emoticons, screen tapper things, and better customization. I mean.. they added gifs, stickers, and color changing the window but it just feels meh. I wish there was a new social media platform that would be better than FB and become the next big thing. In the same way FB killed myspace.

Whoo I wrote a wall :DDDDDD

i dont use facebook or twitter at all. facebook is probably good for catching up with family or real life friends but ,,l ike. nah.
and twitter is too personal, idk.. like, you have to either be interested in a bunch of celebrities, have a lot of friends or be in a fandom or whatever. it gets boring reading a bunch of personal tweets made by people you dont really care about.

i like forums and websites like tumblr and reddit more because they arent as limited w/ content i guess? like, it is easier for me to find interesting stuff on forums and stuff like that than to find it on twitter or facebook or similar websites. idk. i like snapchat and instagram because i follow my friends, i dont really follow people i dont know on there.

It doesn't mean bash others who don't have the same opinions as you lol. I don't care if you rag on the poor optimization of the sites or their inability to decide on word limits, I care that you call people who use it insults just because you don't use it lmao.

I really don't understand why people complain about FB changing so much. They have never made a change on there that has ever been confusing to me and I have been on there since 2006. The only change they've made that bothers me is changing the feed to "Top Stories" as opposed to "Most Recent". It's incredibly annoying, I have to change it to "Most Recent" all of the time because it won't default to it. =/

Anyway, Twitter is probably my least favorite. I started social media in the mid 2000s... Back when social media meant a 'blog', like Xanga and LiveJournal. It was nice. People would write meaningful blogs about how their day was, and how their life is going. My Space came around and offered a multitude of methods to do so - blogging, bulletins, or status updates. I still liked that format, and I can respect FB even to this day... But Twitter. Ugh. Twitter ushered in this over-simplistic style of social media that's just terrible for communication or saying too much of anything because it limits you to an absurdly low character limit. There's someone I really like to talk to on there, but it's hard to communicate anything properly. It's a terrible platform.

Never been a big fan of social networking sites. But for some, it's a "necessary evil". Maybe the internet in general is?

Some people seem to be too attached to their "feeds", and I find that spending too much time online, especially if you're reading negative content, or wasting your time seeing what other people are doing can be draining. Just seeing how "well" others appear to be (even if they're merely fronts) can take a toll on my mood.

That's why I limit my time on social media, especially Facebook (which I really don't like, and have left it many times, only to be drawn back, because that's where all my friends are, and they apparently have problems with exchanging email addresses instead )

The older folks in my life think most, if not all technology these days are bad, and kids are hopeless (definitely some millennial-bashing there), and while I can definitely see what they're saying, I think it all depends on how you use things (if you choose to at all), and how often. I guess I'm an odd mix of traditional and modern (at least in my ways of thinking)...

Social media, while it's not something I like anymore, is quite necessary at times (especially if you're an artist/musician or whatever trying to put yourself out there).
