I've never tried to label my views, but thinking about it now I'd place myself as an independent and/or centrist

tbh (at least in America) both major political parties are two sides of the same coin and I'm kinda over it

i agree, i feel like the US system needs to change in some way so more parties could have a chance because maybe then there would be some other options that are different. in the 2016 election the choice wasnt "who do i agree with and think would be a good president to represent my beliefs while making the country better" it was basically "who will ruin my life the least" and that's not great ):

Omg, yes that sums it up perfectly. It shouldn't be like that....Hopefully the next generation of politicians will choose better candidates.

Lmao sweden really has a feminist party :') ?
I looked SD up and I think It's a bit like the PVV in the Netherlands. Only the PVV doesn't have any nazis in their party, but they're both right-wing populistic parties.

yes we do have a feminist party, it is kind of new though (they weren't discussed a lot until around the 2014 election) and didn't get enough votes to get into the riksdag but they got into some regional things i think. in my opinion they're more of a political group of activists/people who think they are activists than a real political party because they don't really have any plans for most things...

and yeah SD is similar to many anti immigrant right wing extremist parties that are gaining popularity in different parts of europe ):

Independent. I know too many people who would go out of their way to bash me and my viewpoints and opinions just because I'm not a dyed-in-the-wool diehard liberal. Plus, a lot of my views are mixed and don't really conform with either side.

Fascism - "a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition" ("Merriam-Webster")

I would like to know what that means lol

my bad. there's this group of communist troublemakers called Antifa (short for anti-fascist). they riot and attack anyone they disagree with and call them fascists. most people disagree with them cuz their beliefs are dumb and go against pretty much everything western culture stands for. this is why they attack people and use fear tactics to get their message across (like a fascist would). they know they can't win a civilized debate.

so i'd be called a fascist by these fascists even though they're fascists against fascism. very odd.

maybe... theyre a fascist?

(lol no but seriously from what ive seen of their posts they seem rly right wing lol but yea i agree i want 2 know 2)

please stop misgendering me. i'm a guy. and not a fascist.

I'm personally not really a fan of modern feminism/third wave feminism and I was kinda suprised a feminist party existed. I agree tho, one-issue parties are mostly just a bunch of activists. Here we have a party called "party for the animals". They're a far-left party mainly concerning animal rights.

Pretty much all antifa is doing lately is attacking free speech.. About a few weeks ago I thought they were just an american thing but we also have antifa in the Netherlands and Germany (maybe other countries also?). Idk, i just find them very annoying. Not sure if I would call them fascists, tho.

I know what fascism means, I just wanted to know what he meant by "fascists would call me a fascist"

Wow, bravo :) I really respected your opinion, and the way you worded it. Most of the supporters are in my/ other groups'/forums' face about it. I kinda would like to know more of your thoughts.

Lucanosa on page 3 summed up my views pretty well. My views on a lot of things are a bit of a mix and while I might think certain things should be legal I believe there should still be limitations, etc.

And my thoughts on Trump are this - I voted for him because I wanted to stop playing world police, although I understand why he reacted to the Syrian gas attack and attacked the ISIS tunnel. I also didn't really like Obamacare because I thought it was a bandage that doesn't fix the real problem of reducing the price of medicine and medical care. I'm glad more people are insured but I think it would've been better to go after the out of control pharmaceutical and insurance companies.

I'm apolitical. Can't assign all of my beliefs to a single party or political group. I identify with individuals and individual scenarios, and frankly, I think everybody should do the same. Political parties are encouraging prejudice.

serious question: what do you think free speech is?

because I can almost guarantee you're wrong

Honestly I got tired of rich people trying to tell me what I should be doing with my money.

so you voted for the wealthy businessman backed by relations with other wealthy businessmen

what

At the time Trump didn't have much open support from the elite. And his platform was less taxes.

I mean the Hollywood movie stars and wealthy politicians who said the common US citizen should pay more taxes to pay for "free" schooling, "free" healthcare, to give money away as foreign aid, etc.

I am unsure why you think lower taxes would be a good thing. Or why you think Trump (or any Republican) would lower tax rates on you. They only care about the corporate tax rates, and the tax rates of the very highest earners.

And it's worth noting that individual tax rates in the US are among some of the lowest in the developed world. Our very highest individual tax bracket doesn't even land our country in the top thirty highest taxed countries.

Of course, that doesn't matter. We just need to cut taxes and everything will be better, somehow. Cutting revenue for the government will allow us to add even more on our already morbidly obese military budget. Somehow. Probably by cutting all those pesky things like social security and medicare and education and infrastructure maintenance.

I'm an independent, and I'm going to re-register as such very soon. I've been left and right, and now I'm back to being more in the center, which is where I've always really belonged. My views are a mix of libertarian/classical liberal (just plain old liberal for those of you outside the US), and elements of conservatism, social liberalism, and utilitarianism. I'm probably best described as center-right overall, and while I'm quite moderate overall, some of my views are definitely more identifiable with one side of the political spectrum or the other, but above all I believe in liberalism in the broadest sense of the word and care very much about liberty.

I never said lower taxes would be the answer, just that I don't think multimillionaire celebrities and politicians who are making hundred thousand dollar speeches to big corporations are the ones who should be saying I need to do more. I know at least Bernie's thing was to make the 1% pay for everything but he wasn't he one in the running to be president and even if he was I think the 1% wouldve found a way to protect their wealth and the burden of his programs would've fallen on what's left of the middle class.

Also, while Trump ran as a Republican he was always a Democrat before. My vote was hopeful and went to the wild card instead of keeping what in my view was a hypocritical course.
