After you recruit the forced campsite member Tom Nook asks you to start placing down plots in advance for villagers. You'll be free to invite more shortly.

That makes the most sense to me? I feel like, also from being part of lots of auctions in the past, last minute bidding is intense by nature and is bound to happen regardless the final few minutes ;; Though I can't speak for how it is on forums since I haven't been part of a forum auction before. All I can hope for is that in the end she will go to a good home and whatever happen will happen?

what i've seen on websites is a snipe protection where if someone bids in like the last 5 mins, the auction is extended 5... or something like that

but idk its up to the op and his/her deicisons i suppose c:

yeah, i agree! it's pretty normal for last minute bidding to happen... but in case people are trying to snipe, i won't let new bidders bid on her at starting at 11:50 pm.
