Pokémon Longest time it took you to obtain a shiny?

I'm one of those people who really wants the patience to hatch a perfect IV shiny, but I never achieve it. ; ;

The longest time it took me was never. I'm trying hard to get a shiny Froakie right now though. It's kind of sad considering I've been an avid Pokemon player since 1998. I'll succeed one day!

I haven't really MM'd for a shiny before. I tried with Eevee because Sylveon, but after filling 5 boxes in the bank, I went back to normal team breeding.

As for catching them in the wild, I've never gone out of my way to do that, either, but I've found two by accident!
My first shiny encounter ever was AS SOON AS I STARTED playing Gold, I ran into a shiny level 2 Pidgey omg. <3
And then a long time later, I got a shiny Slugma from a friend safari, lol. Silver Slugma looked kinda silly, but Purple Magcargo is actually pretty cool looking.

Longest would be my Shiny Eevee back in HeartGold. It took how many months to get it although it was not completely consistent. I lost count of how many I bred. I just got it one day and just minutes before I got it, I was thinking, will it really show as shiny when it hatches? After that, I started on Vulpix and got it the next weekend(I can only play weekends). Fastest hunt was when I was trying to look for a Shiny Braixen in FS, after less than 10 encounters, I ran into a shiny Growlithe.

In January 2010 I had a lucky encounter and ran into a shiny Hippowdon but I accidentally ran.

What pokemon was it?

A Tympole.
It was so weird, because right after I hatched it I decided to hatch the rest and call it day and then I obtained another shiny Tympole.

(Which was literally in the space of like 3 minutes. My obtained my first two shiny pokemon legit in 3 minutes.)

I have been playing Pokemon since before I was 6 years old. I have gotten shinys from trading and in-game events (such as shiny Gyrados). I had tried to breed a shiny in Pokemon X but I ended up deleting my file and starting all over for fun. I was 19 when I encountered my first wild shiny. Ever.

Swear to god, I was sitting next to my boyfriend who had been breeding his Skarmory with a perfect IV shiny Ditto for DAYS and never got a shiny. But while I was playing my game and just trying to get to the next town, I walked through some grass that I didn't even want to walk through cause I was tired of battling, A SHINY ODDISH JUST RANDOMLY ATTACKS ME!

I started dying because my boyfriend had been trying to breed a shiny for soooo long and I wasn't even looking for one and I got one xD this happened months ago but I still bug him about it

In Heartgold, I loved breeding. It was so fun for me. When I finished the main game I spent the rest of the time breeding Eevee, searching for a lucky shiny. I've been breeding them for 2 years on this file and I haven't gotten a shiny yet. Though the effort stopped quite some time ago, 100+ Eevees have gone through my game for sure.

Honestly, I found a shiny Hoothoot on my SoulSilver version during the very beginning of my game. It was right after I chose my starter Pokemon, Totodile (of course), and got my Pokeballs.
