Losing interest...

Sounds weird but if villagers come to your house they often give fruit as gifts.
The few times that my villagers have came over, they always gave me an orange which is my sister fruit. It'd be awesome if they did finally switch it up, but it doesn't seem to be the case for me.

@Shawna Yeah I remember there was an online game I wanted to play when I was a kid, but it cost a monthly fee that wasn't a lot, but I was also just a kid lol. Even if I did have the money, I'd need my parents to agree to it, as well as use a credit card.

I said it before and while this isn't OP's main issue, you talking about this being a family/kid game brings up the issue that a lot of the game is fairly complicated compared to the previous entries with all the new features and especially the rigid tutorial. I can safely say if I was a kid playing this, I'd probably either be lost or grow bored of how restrictive the tutorial was.

But to stay on topic, overall Lh77, sometimes we just lose interest in the game. It's fine, it happens. It does suck that so much of the game is locked behind online use. Fruits, QR patterns, ect. All stuff that was available to everyone with or without online/paid.

NH has actually less items locked behind trading than past games, but it still has some you need this way.

If you're able to sort out your WiFi issues and can get the 7-day NSO free trial, I'd recommend to "plan" a bit and see if someone here (or your favorite forum/platform) can help you up with:

*The fruits you're missing (be sure to plant them so you can cook/craft all recipes)
*The Sanrio items (unless you have your own amiibo)
*The Nook Link items (you won't be able to save enough points during the free trial for all)
*The Pocket Camp items (unless you want to download that yourself)
*Posters/photos from special NPCs (if you don't have their amiibo)

iirc there's nothing else locked. Maybe some custom designs if you want, there's tons of codes out there for a wild variety of things.

I'm pretty sure they only bring your sisterly fruit or at least my native fruit is oranges and my sister fruit is apples and when my villagers come to my house they only give me apples which I already had before they made this a feature.

you’re not alone. i’m actually in the same boat as you, but for different reasons. between how bad the joycon drift has gotten on my switch, my fatigue and overall just not enjoying doing the same activities every single day (while also not having the energy to do anything different), i’ve been losing interest as well. i’m almost two months behind in-game because of it (i’m still in the early days of february) and probably won’t be caught up anytime soon lol.

i’m really sorry that you’re so frustrated, though. nintendo really did make playing new horizons without a NSO membership a pain in the ass. i was honestly quite surprised that foreign fruit wasn’t included as a discovery possibility on kapp’n’s islands. they fixed the “getting all variations of a furniture item without trading takes forever” issue by adding cyrus to harvey’s island, so they should’ve fixed this, too. if not through kapp’n, leif should’ve started selling foreign fruit at least. some way to make it accessible for those unable to play online would’ve been great.

maybe take a break from the game for a while, or at least until you have wifi again and are able to get a NSO membership (if that’s something you actually want to do)? it’s no fun playing a game you’re losing interest in/frustrated with, so i think a break might do some good. it’s entirely up to you of course.

though, let me know if you ever get NSO. i’d be glad to give you some oranges and peaches for free, as well as anything else you’re missing and wanting (if i have it). :)

Well I tried the letter trick that used to work in new leaf..... I got gifts back that was anything but fruit 😂 going to wait now until I have WiFi sorted and just enjoy the rest of the game. Thank you all for your replies.

Yeah it really isn't fair on the people unable to get NSO, not everyone can. Thank you, I will give you a shout when I've got sorted, I really appreciate your help.
