Loving Unpopular Species!

This is one of the reasons I was so disappointed to see we could only have one island per switch - I really wanted to make a forest island with wolves, deer, squirrels and rabbits, and then an exotic island with alligators, elephants, lions, tigers and monkeys I think that would have been a lot of fun to design

Anteaters are very unpopular, but I like a few of them. They're freaky but awesome irl. I always thought Antonio was really cute, I might try inviting him to my island soon if I can get his card. Anabelle has beautiful colors and patterns, and Olaf is pretty cool too :')

Just for fun, here's my favorites of each species you listed:
Lion: Leopold
Hippo: Biff
Gorilla: Boone or Hans
Monkey: Shari or Tammi

I like the chickens, birds, and ostriches. I always have. I think they're designed very well and have relatively few ugly unbearable villagers versus some other species (including cats. You have Bob, Punchy, Purrl, and a few others that are great, but then once you get past them, there are some really ugly or fail-to-be-cute *coughMerrycough* ones that you really don't want).

I also don't understand the hate for anteaters. I didn't even know they were all of that unpopular.

I didn't know that horses aside from Julian were disliked. I love the horses! Sure there are a couple of weird ones, but I love most of them.

I didn't know what to think of hippos, but I have Bertha in my village and she's not bad.

Gorillas are okay. Not my favorite, but there are gorillas I'd much rather have sooner than some of the cats, bunnies, etc.

Bunnies, mice, and hamsters are generally the villagers I don't really care for at large. It's sad because I think rodents are adorable in real life, but these Animal Crossing caricatures of them try too hard to be 'cute' in a way that doesn't appeal to me at all. Just like Merry the cat.

I LOVE the lion and octopus designs as well! There are people who don't? You really learn something new every day.. I am also surprised how little people like the frogs and ducks in the game. Lots of the species have some villagers who are really weird looking and not so appealing at all, but overall I really love pretty much any villager category.

I have Monty on my Island and I like him, but my sister says he’s terrifying, because of his yellow Eyes.

Yeah, Boris feels kinda underrated. He fills the void we have now with Ganon being gone and he looks so much different than the other pigs. He was a great friend in Population Growing.

I'm not sure how unpopular they are but I love literally every single ostrich except Sprocket and that's only because I just don't like the robot villagers. I love how even though they're labeled as ostriches they're pretty much all different types of birds, like Phoebe the phoenix and Flora the flamingo, and I feel like they're not appreciated nearly enough! Penguins and sheep also seem kinda slept on when the majority of them are adorable... though sheep were cuter in NL imo. But yeah, even though super popular species like deer and squirrels are among my most favorite, each one deserves some love!

Currently I have a sheep, a gorilla, a duck, an ostrich and a cow.
Except for the cow whom I've invited from mystery island, the rest are natural move ins.
I like them all. Not having any preference makes playing the game more enjoyable for me.

Kangaroos were baby me's favorite villagers. Matilda was my all-time favorite
I also like pretty much all the monkeys, the penguins, the sheep, the mice, the ostriches...

I’m a big fan of the alligators and a lot of the koala and sheep villagers and those are pretty unpopular imo!

even though i dont love any of them in particular, i never understood why the anteaters are so unpopular! people say they look weird or awkward, but i just dont see it.

i also think koalas are a lot better than theyre given credit for, almost all of them look good to me!

I didn't even know Hamsters were in the game until I found Apple on an NM Island lmao. Searching the species, I kind of like them.

And my boy Sterling has shown me the way and how Eagles are one of the best consistent species in the game. I practically like all their designs.

I honestly like all the species beside Gorillas and Monkeys, they’re my least favorite animals in real life as well. Monkeys I tolerant more though.
Really, I think I’m more into a specific aesthetic the villagers hit. That’s why Kyle (grunge?), Muffy (goth), Cherry (punk), and Eugene (greaser) are one’s on top of the lists of favorites despite whatever species they are. I hope Alligators get one of those kinds of villagers in the future. I love reptiles, but none of the designs make me want to drop everything to get them. Still love them and would be happy to see them move in on their own.

Are the eagles unpopular? They are beautiful, IMO. I love Sterling. I've never had him before, but his theme is really neat.

Dogs, wolves and alligators are my favourite species. Alligators seem pretty unpopular. I love Alfonso, Boots and Sly.
I really like the eagles too, Celia was one of my faves. Keaton looks like a cool smug too.

Maybe? When it comes to demand I don't really see anyone wanting or putting any eagles on their dreamies list. But I'm probably just looking in the wrong places lmao. Maybe I just think they're underrated instead.
And yeah, I love Sterling. He was a starter alongside Muffy and really grew on me. Typically not a fan of the Jock personality but it's grown on me too.

I like most of the frogs I also don't think people like the hamsters that much but I love all of them.

I dont like gorillas or monkeys. But I dont like the IRL animals so that's my issue lol.
I dont like elephants or cows. Bears are okay but they feel so large I'd rather have something smaller.
