Would you like it if the new switch game decied to have more than 10 animal villagers living in you town? I certainly would! If so, do you think nintendo will ask you to pay for an extra animal villager in your town if you already have 10?

I'm half and half on it.

Reason being, having more villagers would be awesome, but too many would be overbearing? In a sense.
Like I don't want to try to keep up with 20 animals every day, as it would become very stressful. A few more would be okay, but I'm actually fine with 10.

I don't think we would have to pay for extra villagers. I think it'd be we either get 10, or more and that'll be it.

Yeah, I'd love to have more than 10 villagers, provided we get larger towns to accommodate them.

Well, if we are able to choose where they get to place their houses and if we have bigger towns, then I would love to have more than 10 villagers!

I would like more than 10, but if they don't add more slots for villagers then that just means I'll have more than one town that way I can have all of my favorites!

I don't even have a Switch and don't intend on buying one right away
(I bought one for my boyfriend so buying another is making my bank account cry just thinking about it)

Regardless, I think it would be cool to have more than 10, as I like a bunch of villagers!
It took me forever to narrow it down to which 10 /dreamies/ I want in my town.

But I would love if they implemented you being able to choose where they move in at.
Did anyone here play MySims on the Wii? Someone would be at the town hall and you'd be all like sure let me find you a place to live and go out and build their house. I loved keeping themed people together and knowing where everyone would be moving in at.

Merry just moved into my town and took out half of Mango orchard *shakes fist*

I still play Gamecube regularly, and in that game you can have a maximum of 15 villagers. I think 15 is a good amount, and I'm pretty sure the Switch could handle that. I actually don't feel the need to be best friends with every villager in my Gamecube town. I have a few villagers who are my favorites, then the rest I still like but only talk to on occasion. I think that makes the town feel more interesting, since there is more than 1 type of relationship. For some villagers, we are just friendly acquaintances, and that is completely fine.

I would LOVE to see more than 10 villagers in the next game! The original has 15 and like MapleSilver said, that's a good amount.

I definitely had some trouble narrowing down and deciding which villagers I want in my town, so yes, I would love to see more than 10. I agree with MapleSilver and xSuperMario64x, I think having 15 villagers like the GC version would be a nice number. ^^

Some context on previous numbers, the GC number notably mentioned already by others though:

Gamecube - 15
Wild World - 8
City Folk - 10
New Leaf - 10

And the number of acres / town size of each game, as that is quite relevant to the number of villagers too:

Gamecube - 30
Wild World - 16
City Folk - 25
New Leaf - 20

Aside from City Folk, the games all maintain a perfect 2 acres to 1 villager ratio.

(unrelated to this topic, but I look forward to finally returning to Gamecube or larger sized towns hopefully)

I've been watching a friend stream the GC animal crossing lately, and we were talking about how we'd love to be allowed to have 15 villagers again! I mean, I'm really hoping we'll get bigger towns in general tbh ;v; But yes, would def love to be able to hoard all of my desired dreamies~

Thank you for explanation/summary it up! Since I, myself never played anything beyond the original gamecube version, so i was so confused and shocked to heard that they downsized the villager amount after gamecube one! o___o

That'd be nice if they go back similar to how Gamecube version was!
But wow, @ acres/town size too, wow.

but yeah, i'd love to see 15 villager return or something! as along all old villager from gamecube!

I miss how the GameCube version had fifteen villagers, so this would be an automatic yes from me.

I find that photo quite interesting. I knew simply by playing that the town sizes were different between games, but to see them visually compared like that really shows how drastic those differences are.

I think that graphic is a bit misleading though, since 20 acres (NL) would be 5x4...so it wouldn't be both wider and longer than the 4x4 WW map, just one or the other. Same deal with CF (5x5) vs. GameCube (6x5).

^^^Yes, the original AC:GCN town was 5 acres wide and 6 acres tall. So it would be just as wide as the City Folk town but longer.

Yeah I probably should have noticed that mistake. Wild Word's map is small, but the difference is not that absurd.
