I was just wondering about this. Do you guys think motion controls will be in the game?
I hope they will not but I guess they will add some. I dislike motion controls because my left joy-con is not accurate so I mostly play with the pro controller.

If I had to guess, maybe they implement motion controls for the tools (like reeling in your fishing rod) or opening the menu / bag. It would be cute if you had motion controls to wave at villagers (like in Wild World, by tapping them).

What do you guys think?

Sure, I think motion controls will be implemented the same way they were in City Folk.

I love the idea of waving to the villagers.

I think (I might be wrong) for every motion control there was a button/regular alternative? So I think it will be like that again.
Some people will prefer the motion control, some others won't. And if there is no alternative, there will still be the possibility to change the control settings I guess?

^In City Folk you could waggle as an alternative to pressing A to cast a fishing rod and waving the net, but the thing is the motion couldn't be turned off so you'd often do it by accident by moving xD I imagine it'll be the same here unfortunately.

I didn't enjoy the motion control in the Wii version and ended up playing most of the game just using my nunchuck.

If it's there, I hope it's optional. On the other hand, bring on the HD rumble, love that stuff.

I hope they won't make any precise motion based inputs as I can get really annoyed by games that do use it.

I?m having painful flashbacks of trying to write letters to my villagers in City Folk. Motion controls for features like that were just awful.

I never played City Folk so I never know how motion controls are going to work in the new game.

Alongside microtransactions, this is one area I really worry about the game. I don't expect a repeat of City Folk, which was bottom of the barrel forced motion controls during Nintendo's worst most-motion control obsessed era. The thing is, though, I still worry about the little places they'll try to force it/gyroscopes into the game. Just look at Breath of the Wild. It's almost entirely a game you can play with standard control methods, but then there are those shrines where they force it on you. Unlike BOTW, Animal Crossing is a game of repetition, and forcing it on us for even one task (like fishing) could result in having to deal with it all of the time.

If only they could make it optional. But that isn't the trend with Nintendo right now.

I hate motion controls. As long there’s a button option, i’ll be happy with that. I also like the rumble feature, like during fishing or shaking trees. I hope they add that in (and also an option to turn it off).

I hope we don't have motion controls. I hated the waggle waggle of the Wiimote.

Motion controls are fun in some games but I really disliked them in wild world. My hands shake so doing some things was nearly impossible. Writing letters was tedious and doing designs was fusterating. Its also hard to have to sit up straight for a long time to play any game. If they want to do motion control they should at least have an option to turn it off. Motion control for fishing or bug catching could be fun but otherwise I hope they don't do it or at least let you turn it off.

(bleuuugh booeorughghhh) Sorry I just threw up.

I really dislike motion controls. It'd be best if they included them in the new switch game, but also made them an optional feature.

ugh please nooo
well if there is at least a button option for everything then i dont care i guess.
i will play in handheld mode most of the time so i hope i wont be bothered with it.

The thing that terrified me about that was accidentally pulling up too soon on a fishing rod.

I can’t imagine motion control will not be optional? Especially if you’re olaying the game in handheld mode then the only motion you have is gyro which won’t be that useful. I reckon the game will cater for both preferences...I personally hate motion in AC.

I think they'll be in it, but they'll be very reduced from what it was in City Folk. There will definitely be regular button input alternatives to all motion controls, and I assume you'll be able to just turn them off.

I feel like, if they did implement motion controls, it would only work when they joycons are removed from the switch and held like the wii remote. They could make the feature turn off when fitted into either the controller or the switch itself.
