Do you have a preference in where you catch items you donate to the museum?

Do you sometimes catch them on other people’s islands (same/different hemisphere)? Or on nook miles islands/kappn‘s islands/HHP island etc? Or do you prefer everything to donate to be exclusively caught on your own island?

Interested to know please - thank you!

I prefer to catch and donate them during the actual time of year they're available! I did this for all of my catches, though I had to go to someone's town that was TT'd to June because while I had caught a firefly, I forgot to donate one.

I enjoy catching fish/bugs on other people's islands. It makes the visit to others more fun for me and it helps to complete my exhibits faster. I tend to forget to catch seasonal bugs/fish on my own island because I'm busy doing other stuff like landscaping.

I've caught everything (bugs, fish, sea creatures) on my main island, except majority of the beetles. I farmed beetles on mystery islands back in summer.

When it comes to all the fish, bugs and sea creatures, I wanted to try and catch them all either on my island or on Nook Miles islands. There's only one case where I didn't (the golden trout), but otherwise I did manage to catch them all without traveling to other people's islands, though I definitely did rely on the Nook Miles islands a fair amount to catch some of them, lol.

Since I completed my Museum from last year on my old island before I deleted it, I can care less about donating stuff to the Museum, unless if you want to get upgraded then you need to donate certain items to the Museum, especially if you want to get Brewster. Of course you still need to get a 3 star Rating on your island and to have K,K. visited your island so that way Blathers will tell you that he wants Brewster.

The only donation I kinda care about is the Art and Statues. I don't know why but whenever I see it, it just makes me want to donate it to the Art Gallery (as long as its real) because I actually like the music in the Art Gallery.

I always love to visit other islands and catch bugs and go fishing I do not mind when I am donating to the museum I just want to get them all :)

I caught all mine on my own island ... I'm an adult so I have patience, I didn't rush around trying to do everything as quickly as possible .... Plus, it kept me playing for year !! Waiting for that darn spider crab xD

I catch them on my own island or the nook/boat islands.
Sea creatures are the only ones I get on my own island. It's easier dealing with them that way since I usually need wood and rocks when I visit a nook/boat island.

Edit I forgot about art 🤦 lol I have traded/bought from other islands for that in my other play throughs. Not happening on my current one though.

I never really had a preference. I also didn’t care for the museum too much. I wasn’t obsessed with completing it, for a lack of a better term. I just sold the fish, bugs, paintings, statues, or fossils to Nook. If I happened to be at the museum, I would sometimes donate, but it wasn’t all the time. I didn’t care for the museum aspect. I’ve only ever fished or caught bugs on my own island or Nook Miles Islands. I didn’t travel to other islands just to hunt for sea creatures or bugs I didn’t have. My museum obviously isn’t complete and won’t ever be. I care more for other aspects of the game.

I completed my museum in March, all caught on my island. It wasn’t a preference I just never felt the need to go anywhere else to get them. I do make sure I get all fish, bugs, sea creatures in a year though. Every month I make a list of everything available at that time. I write down location, time of day, shadow size
and movement for sea creatures and mark them off as I catch them. It usually takes me no more than a week to get everything for that month.

I have no preference at all - the only 'rule' i have in regards to the museum is that the first caught thing always goes to Blathers! but i think that's a fairly common thing because it's the easiest way to keep track of what's been donated and what hasn't. with art i tend to trade a lot to get that since otherwise it'd take forever to get everything together, but with bugs/fish/sea creatures it's easier for me to do it on my own island or on nook mile islands because i don't tend to visit other people's islands for much beyond trades

Having completed my museum, i had 99% of my items from the time of year my island was currently on. I forgot to grab one summer bug and was only 1 bug short of completing my museum (this is in dec 2020) i was so impatient i hadto find someone who had a southen hem to go and after hours of trawling their beach i found it😂

I try to catch and donate them on my island, but I went to another island, caught a bug in summer, went back to my island in winter, and donated it. Now this summer bug was donated in December.

my museum’s been complete for quite some time now, but i definitely tried to (and prefer to) catch critters on my own island, though a few of my autumn critter donations were caught on someone else’s island.
