i freaking love mushrooms!!! grown up eating a whole bunch of different kinds so i never understood my friends not liking them
i love my shiitake, white button, enoki, and king oyster the most
oh oh! i actually planned on making mushroom miso udon for lunch or maybe dinner :0)
i always find them so cute looking in art or games
I'm ok with eating them, but it's definitely a texture thing for me too. That's why I prefer them in soup form... or completely over powered with cheese haha.
Visually, I love them! I like taking pictures of them after a rainy day.
Took this pic of a tiny cap some months back. They're very cute!
Love them for the aesthetic and fall vibes!! But hate them as food
I enjoy seeing them popping up around the trees in parks, forests, etc. and when I think about mushrooms, I play the track "The Smell of Mushroom" from Stardew Valley in the background to really set the mood. I think mushrooms in general are great. It's interesting to learn about the good ones and bad ones.
But as food... No thanks. Keep 'em especially away from my pizza lol
Although if I ever had the opportunity, I'd legitimately try Chicken of the Woods and beefsteak mushrooms. Foraged and prepared, of course, by a shroom expert.
I love mushrooms! They are my favorite food and I love to just saute them in some butter, yum!
I've been trying to explore some more exotic mushrooms
I grew up on Shiitake mushrooms, and enoki mushrooms
But recently I've loved oyster mushrooms and trumpet mushrooms
I got some Lion's Mane recently which is a weird looking mushroom, but tastes really good and I hear people make faux crab cakes with them!
Someone tried to sell me some mushrooms for making tea (I think people do this with the Reishi mushroom for some sort of medicinal purpose). I actually like the taste of shiitake mushrooms in a clear soup broth, but the tea didn't have that strong mushroom hearty umami flavor I wanted, so I haven't warmed up to that quite yet
Trader Joe's sells this mushroom umami seasoning which is super cool!
I bought some grow your own mushrooms at home kits during the pandemic, which were surprisingly easy to grow! And tasty!
I also think mushrooms are pretty neat in the nature of their life cycles, with their mycelium and fruiting bodies. It's always fun to see some mushrooms that have popped up after the rain. I wish I knew more about mushroom foraging, but that takes more training than I currently have time to invest
Recently I've been watching Star Trek Discovery, and there's this plot device where they travel throughout the galaxy on a mycelial network with a spore drive, which is pretty wild, but kind of interesting to think about!

LOL
Today I learned Shiitake is spelled with two 'i's. For being my favorite mushroom, I can't believe I've gotten to the age I have and not realized that!
I really enjoy them in most dishes! In the last few years I tried them out and am a massive fan now. A great addition to many of my meals and can be cooked in so many different ways too.
I enjoy looking at mushrooms specifically, and spotting them when I'm walking anywhere. I'll usually take a picture of them when I see them too. On the other hand, I don't enjoy looking at mold, and I'm not a fan of mold or yeast (except baking yeast, lol) in general. I definitely appreciate them for what they are, though!
I'm not a fan of eating mushrooms, though I will in some instances. E.g. if they're on a pizza, if they're dry, if they're cut very small (and don't make up a large portion of the dish), if they're uncooked in a salad, etc. I'm not a fan of the taste, nor the sometimes watery texture.
Mushrooms are yummy! I know a lot of people hate them but my parents had a mushroom hunting phase so I had to try lots of them and grew to be a fan. I really like white beech mushrooms with sour curry flavoring or or a sour soup. King oyster mushrooms are also great stir fried! My mom also adds mushroom seasoning to a lot of her cooking as well
Aesthetically, mushrooms are also really cool. There's a collection of little anime mushroom girl figurines that are super pretty and I'm kinda tempted to get some. Also have a mushroom hunting OC that I made in middle school but I haven't drawn her in a while lol
