It seems like the musical direction of New Horizons will be similar to New Leaf's in terms of style where it's more relaxing. I was kind of hoping to have more music like the one with meowing from the old games:

I just want really happy upbeat silly music. Or like I mentioned with my idea in another thread, how there could be a record store where you can buy "classic records" and these will be like old hourly music from past games and you can play it over the "town speaker" and that's the music you'll hear while exploring your town. You create a playlist of the music you want to hear for every hour. But you can also just have the default music from the new game.

Of course, I'm just basing this off of what I heard from the trailer/treehouse live segment. The music in them just gave me New Leaf vibes, and while I really like New Leaf's music, I wanted something that felt more happy and fun. I've never played the old games, but songs like the meow song from the original game just gives me good vibes all over and puts me in a cheerful mood. I'm sure that the music will still be really good though! Just depends on if they go for relaxing again, or fun. Hopefully both!

How do you guys feel about the musical examples we got from the trailer/treehouse live?

Abit early to really decide, but I think you have a good chance to get what you are saying with the classic records. With Smash ultimate having pretty much all music, Kirby Star allies having alot of music not even played in the game, and possibly more (don't have much more than that, but I remember the jukebox there was quite large), I think its going to have some way to display the classic music. They did say they wanted much more customization, so lets hope for music as part of that.

The 10:00am theme that was playing in the background of the Treehouse segment felt New Leaf-Esau’s, but the main theme for the game from the trailer reminded me a lot of the main theme from Wild World. I’d love if they tried to combine generations together to get more modern music with a nostalgic flair.

I love what I've heard of the game so far. You're right in that the music is like New Leaf, or modern Animal Crossing I guess we can call it that right? I personally loved New Leafs music so I have no problems with this.

On the subject of customization it would be really cool if they made a music applet on the NookPhone and play music from there. Maybe pick from all the game's song and include playlists that change hourly music to the soundtrack of previous games? I don't think I'd use it personally because every game's unique soundtrack helps creating their own identity for me but it would be nice to have the option.

I haven't actually had the chance to listen to the older AC music, so listening to this tune made me so happy. It gives me this whimsical spunky vibe. It doesn't take itself too seriously! I would have preferred this music to the NL music. (I love the NL music but it's a little too safe and standard compared to this.) I can't really speculate as I could barely hear the music in the New Horizons gameplay. Seeing how AC has gone I don't expect Nintendo to really experiment too much with the music, it'll probably be quite similar to NL.

i'm getting more of a wild world feeling from what we've heard of the music so far! the music in the treehouse segment to me feels like some sort of weird fusion between wild worlds 4am track and the 10am track, but with that signature ww guitar.

maybe it's just the nostalgia talking, but the music that plays after somethings been crafted is definitely not like anything i can remember hearing in new leaf!

Well I wasn't really paying attention to the music during Treehouse live because of the voice overs. But the one that we heard from the trailer does have the same feeling as New Leaf (for me at least) so it might set the tone for the entire game. After all, we are going to live on a deserted tropical island.

I hope they draw back to the older games like gamecube and wildworld. Those were the best soundtracks. super relaxing, homey, and nostalgic

I have pretty much accepted that they will probably never make something as good as the Gamecube soundtrack, so I'll just enjoy whatever they have made here. At the very least it's not just New Leaf music again like what happened in City Folk.

I really hope we have richer arrangements with it sounding more like live instruments than the past. I really want a rich, orchestral-like soundtrack. I remember back in the old days of gamecube really loving it when I turned on AC and got an hourly theme I adored.

Just sayin' but the Animal Crossing GC games didn't have any rich or live instrumentated tracks at all.

That aside yes I agree. New Leaf already did a better job with using instruments that don't get annoying as quickly compared to the City Folk or Wild World music. All we need aside from the richer music is maybe longer arrangements. I kind of dislike how most of the hourly themes loop after about a minute already. That is just way too soon for music that you could essentially hear for an entire hour in my opinion.

Granted it's more likely that you'll enter a building or two during that hour and maybe you'll head for mainstreet or whatever but point is, the songs get really boring after just a few minutes outside and I'd love to see that changed.

Roaming around my future new horizons town listening to the Gamecube's soundtrack would be so awesome! Being able to customize the hourly soundtrack with those from past games is one of my dream features. It should be an app for the Nook Phone if it makes it in.

At least it won't be all "tropical" music.

So much this! I'm really hoping its not all "island" style or something. I like the normal music.

Yeah the island-y tropical direction they took the NL music was...eh.

That said I have a lot of nostalgia for late nights on WW WiFi on ACC. So I really do like those 11PM to about 4AM themes more.

NL 11PM to 4AM is solid, but then 5AM is where it gets too tropical.
