I just got an MP3 Player not too long ago and I want some music for it. I want to find a site where they won't charge you for downloading music. Any sites under that category?

Aww, I thought you had a musical question ala music theory or playing an instrument.

:p

But to answer your actual question... In most cases, not legally. There are sites where you can download licensed music illegaly, but obviously I would not recommend that. What I WOULD do is just buy a CD or something and then put it on your PC and then to your MP3 player.

However, there is ONE site which is mostly legal (it is legal if you download soundtracks that were never under a license, and the majority of the site's content is legal) -

http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/view-all

You can find videogame music and anime music here. This site is highly recommended, I've gotten most of my music from there...

I see. This site has free downloadable music doesn't it?
Yes, it does. You click on the soundtrack name you want, then choose the song you like, and then, on the next page it loads, there will be a "click here". If you want to save the song, you need right-mouse-click on that, and then save it in the directory you want.

I have an MP3 player that holds up to 512 megs of memory. I also noticed on the site that there are some songs that are between 20 to 80 something megs. Oh, and thanks for the site link! I'm also looking up some specific songs to download to my MP3 as well.

20-80 meg songs? I HIGHLY doubt that... That sounds like way too much. The average song size is roughly 4 megabytes.

Go to emusic.com for songs 25 cents each. Also, they are in MP3 format

I strongly reccomend Alkaline Trio, Brand New, and Green Day.

Depends on their bitrate and length. For example, an AAC version of Part One of Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells' with a bitrate of 128kbps and a length of 23 minutes is 21.7MB.

A length of 23 minutes... I am willing to bet that there is a miniscule - nay, a microscopic - amount of songs of that length on Galbadia Hotel... But I do understand what you're saying.

Through the fire and flames from dragonforce is almost 8 mins long, and its 13MB.

In MP3 format.

Meh, I was just being anal for the sake of being anal.

;) You're right- it is, in general, very rare for tracks to be that long. I figured out that the average track length in my collection of 2082 songs is 4:15.

As for the original point this thread was created... you could always just steal the music! Heck, what else is p2p for!?
