My [Potentially] Major Concern with New Horizons

Good grief. I'll state it again, Pocket Camp's tiresome mechanics have nothing to do with New Horizons. The E3 Treehouse presentation clearly shows crafting items happening instantly, in real time. I'm baffled why people are trying to push this narrative that New Horizons is based on Pocket Camp. It isn't.

I agree. Can not compare a mobile game to a main series game. So what if they both have crafting....clearly the mobile game is going to take forever to try to get people to pay money to speed it up. That is how mobile games work.

With the phrase 'major concern' in the title, surely it's a thread about discussing aspects of the game that we feel could potentially ruin the experience, no? In my view, John Wick isn't stating anything concrete and is just speculating. I'm not sure where the issue is exactly.

I wasn't comparing it.

Crafting happens to be an aspect of PC that is in NH.

If I'm mentioning PC in the same breath as crafting it's because that's where it originated.

Thank you.
Finally, someone who understands that I'm not freaking out, I'm not stating how the game will be, I'm just posting crafting concerns and theories. :)

I don't think crafting is going to be Pocket Camp-level unreasonable or anything, but yea, this thread is for concerns. Maybe we should discuss something else? John Wick's concerns are pretty well documented on like the last 3 pages.

If I didn't have to keep repeating myself and add personal disclaimers about my posts being theories, then have to defend that post, then maybe there wouldn't be three pages worth.

Over & out.

Even though I have every Amiibo card and figurine I agree 100% with what you're saying. I loved the randomness of GC and the lack of internet information about the game when it first came out, everything was so new and you had to figure everything out on your own and get what you get sort of thing. I miss that, the newer games are almost.. predictable, I guess? but I feel you big time

There is no issue, from my perspective at least.

I recognize that this is supposed to be a conversation about our concerns for the game, but is it not reasonable to challenge said concerns? Like if I said "I am concerned that maybe I won't get to wear that sick female hair if I'm playing the game as a boy..." someone could then respond with "Actually it was confirmed by Nintendo that all hair in the game is gender-free." I think this applies to some of the concerns mentioned in this thread, and I don't see the issue with discussing why we should or should not take said concerns seriously.

As stated, I'm just waiting for the final product, and hoping that crafting doesn't entail everything that it entails in Pocket Camp.

^_^
I see you are coming from. It is comforting to me to think that Pocket Camp is a free-to-play mobile game with micro-transactions. Hopefully Nintendo recognizes that this would not fly with a (50+usd) mainline Animal Crossing game. That seems like it would be quite a large oversight, but I understand your concern haha.

It is perfectly reasonable to challenge said concerns but I don't think he is "determined to spread the doom and gloom", especially in a thread about concern.

Maybe because this thread is not the only place I?ve seen the same rhetoric by the same person?

ACPC is a mobile game and like many other mobile games have mechanics that center around encouraging in app purchasing such as artificial time gating on crafting, time based events that have strict deadlines, rotating villagers every 3 hours to keep app engagement high because you have to raise friendships and collect essences etc. Literally all of the gameplay is focused on pushing people towards making in app purchases. None of these mechanics make sense in a console entry since we are paying a one and done price of entry unless they plan to microtransaction us to death which I highly doubt since that would surpass an EA level of screw up. It?s more logical to think ACNH would not follow ACPC?s crafting method than it would to think it will.

And moving on from the ACPC topic that everyone is tired of now, my biggest concern in the game is probably villager dialogue as well. I didn?t like how in New Leaf the villager dialogue was so diluted like villagers telling you beginner tips after years of playing. I hope we get more information soon. People seem to be really getting nervous with the lack of information.
