“Assorted” Collector
Despite my knowledge of battling, my Pokémon plush collection, and my avatar with Eevees, I’m not a true Pokémon fan. One reason is that I do not plan on playing any Main Series Pokémon games older than Sun and Moon. Another reason is that I only like 10% (or at least 20%) of the Pokémon species. The rest I am just “fine” with or I do not like.
Without further ado, here’s my list:
Without further ado, here’s my list:
- #1 - Eevee: My favorite Pokémon has changed over time, but since Sun and Moon, Eevee has clinched this title, and it’s not going to change anytime. This one is not just my favorite Pokémon, but also my favorite character in all fictional media. It’s because Eevee is so cute and loveable.
- #2 - Espeon: My favorite of Eevolutions and the primary reason why the 2nd generation is my 2nd favorite generation. To be honest, most of the Psychic Pokemon have poor stats or are just ugly, and if neither are true, it’s gotta be one of the special Pokémon. There are a few exceptions, and Espeon is the best example. It’s got a good special attack, good speed, and good ability. Its movepool may be poor, but I could teach it the moves I would need to teach it (Psychic as a STAB move, Shadow Ball to combat its weakness against Ghost and ineffectiveness against Psychic, and Dazzling Gleam to combat its weakness against Dark).
- #3 - Glaceon: The Ice Type is my favorite type in Pokémon, and Glaceon is my favorite of the Ice types. It has the highest special attack stat out of all regular Ice Pokémon, which means moves like Ice Beam and Blizzard are even more powerful.
- #4 - Vulpix: Easily my favorite Pokémon outside the Eevee family, Pikachu family, starter families, and the realm of special Pokémon. While I prefer the Alolan form more, both forms have a hidden ability that automatically changes the weather and a move that is enhanced by the weather change. Plus, Vulpix is cute.
- #5 - Popplio: My favorite of all the starter Pokémon and the Water Type Pokémon. He’s even the reason why I got involved into Pokémon in the first place.
- #6 - Sylveon: Another Eevolution on this list, and no Fairy Type Pokémon would top this Pokémon.
- #7 - Minior: Easily one of the coolest Pokémon. You can make this a physical sweeper or special sweeper. It also comes in different colors, at least the core form.
- #8 - Vaporeon: Between the original three Eevolutions, Vaporeon is my favorite. It’s also a Water Pokémon, my second favorite type.
- #9 - Ninetales: Same as Vulpix, except not as cute.
- #10 - Dewgong: One of the few Pokémon where the evolved form is cuter than the original. If I could not have access to Glaceon or Alolan Vulpix, but have access to all first gen Pokémon, I will at least have Dewgong. But not the wild Dewgong that dragged Ash down, causing him to almost drown.
- #11 - Mew: Probably the only 1st generation Psychic Pokémon on this list. What’s cool about this rare Pokémon is that it can learn almost any move. Mew’s also cute.
- #12 - Raichu: While the Alolan form is better, the Kantonian form is my favorite Electric Pokémon. My only complaint is that it sounds a lot better in the Anime than the games.
- #13 - Ribombee: In my opinion, the 7th generation is the best generation for both Bug Pokémon and Ghost Pokémon, and Ribombee is my favorite Bug Pokémon. It’s more than just a Pokémon with good stats and moves. It looks like a winter-themed Pokémon.
- #14 - Hoppip: My favorite Grass Pokémon. It may be one of the worst Pokémon for battling, but how can I resist their happy and cute looks?
- #15 - Marowak: Count the Kantonian form only, it’s not even on this list. But the Alolan form, is my favorite Ghost Pokémon. I thought the Ghost and Fire combination is a cool combination.
- #16 - Pikipek: The very first wild Pokémon I ever encountered. Common bird Pokémon aren’t very valuable to me, but this one is for sentimental reasons.
- #17 - Mimikyu: My favorite Ghost Pokémon to always be a Ghost Pokémon is this creepy ragdoll Pokémon. I typically don’t like Pokémon that are very popular, but Mimikyu is too cool to be overrated.
- #18 - Marshadow: Despite being a cool type, there are very few Fighting Pokémon that I like. The majority of the Fighting Pokémon on this list are 7th gen Pokémon, and it’s not even the Fighting type that puts them up this high. Marshadow’s Ghost typing is why it’s up here, and it’s one of the coolest Ghost Pokémon.
- #19 - Rockruff: Of the three Earth types, the Rock type is my favorite, and Rockruff is one of them. While the stronger ‘mons are better for competition, the weaker ‘mons are cuter.
- #20 - Cosmog: The Sun lion and Moon bat may be cool, but I couldn’t like either one more than the child of the line - Cosmog. Yes, I know it’s useless since it only knows status moves, but it evolves into more powerful Pokémon.
- #21 - Pikachu: It may be the mascot of Pokémon and the first electric Pokémon according to the Pokédex, but it’s not in my top 20. But at least it’s in my top 10%.
- #22 - Jolteon: Not too much of a Jolteon fan, but its speed stat is worth redeeming for. What I don’t like is that it cannot learn a move to combat its Ground-type weakness.
- #23 - Rhydon: Also known as the first Pokémon, Rhydon is quite cool. I initially didn’t care for him, but he earned a spot in my top 10%.
- #24 - Cottonee: My favorite 5th generation Pokémon. The Grass type has a mixture of cute, normal, and ugly Pokémon. But there is a branch of Grass Pokémon I call the “kawaii Grass Pokémon”, which are my favorite type of Grass Pokémon. Cottonee is of them.
- #25 - Whimsicott: Oh wait, that’s not all. Whimsicott is almost tied with Cottonee. To be fair, I’m not a fan of the Grass types, as its Fairy type and asthetics are why the Cottonee line are up here.
- #26 - Lycanroc: Not the evil one or the dusk one, but the good one (midday). The Rockruff line is one of the many evolutionary lines that prove that the 7th generation is the best.
- #27 - Lapras: At one time, Lapras was my favorite Pokémon. Now it’s not, but it’s in my top 10% because it looks like a sea turtle, and it’s the only Water type Pokémon to have access to Freeze-Dry, which makes all resistances from other Pokémon irrelevant to Lapras. The three types a water move can’t affect are all weak to this move.
