New and Returning Villager Tier

Frett is a very good boy. I don’t really hate anyone. I’m just neutral to the villagers in the bottom category.

Some of these were hard to rank as while I really don't like them, I can't call them bad designs

Tiansheng was super easy to rate though

I'm pretty confident about my S and A rankings, but some of the others could possibly move up a spot

I'm biased toward Ace, because he was one of my original six on the GCN version in my first town nearly twenty years ago. I'm sad to see him ranked so low by so many. =(

There are a lot of fun new designs (heck, I kinda even like the mouse villager, which says a lot) and some great old returns such as Rio and Faith.

mine looks weird but it's how I feel until I actually meet the S tier.

I’m sure this will change a little if/when I meet these villagers in person. Except for Faith. Why did they bring in an adorable island koala and then redesign her to look like she’s wearing a strange bodysuit? I weep.

The older villagers returning I'm judging based on how much they fit into the game.

A tier- I really love Rosewell's English name and connection to UFOs. I didn't notice at first but his body looks like it is covered with crop circles? That's awesome. Faith is absolutely fits the tropical theme of the game. Rio is a cute counterpart to Pheobe imo. Tianshing and Shino give me some mythology vibes.

B tier are pretty meh to me, I liked Petri a little more until I found out she'd be snooty.

The C tier I don't hate but I'm not crazy about their designs. They seem just like generic animal crossing characters to me. They just make me think "Out of all the old villagers, these are the villagers you chose to bring back?"

Really love Marlo though and Cephalobot's name is an amazing pun.

I want Sasha on my island, but I don't want to replace Claude.
But I might replace Poppy with Ione.
Ace is a fav from the GameCube version.

I'm more wordy than "S, A, B, C", etc. It's still in descending order, though! ;v;
Very excited to change out my Quinn amiibo icon for a screenshot in-game!
(or for something Rio! Had to change out of using Rio as an icon because she's a default image when I try (and fail) to place amiibo card preorders )

D tier is they don't do much for me and not that I think they're ugly or anything.

C tier is they're interesting and I would want their photo (same with D tier)

B tier is I'm intrigued but sort of need to "know them better" if that makes any sense at all.

A tier, I really like these designs and could potentially be permanent residents.

S tier, I was definitely influenced by a friend! I think his design is hilarious but I don't think he'll be a permanent villager. I think he just deserves this spot, lol.

Top Pick: Tiansheng!
After having high hopes for Shino, Tiansheng comes in first place due to his design/personality combination. He’s the full package, and the only villager who already has a guaranteed spot on my Island!

I been rallying for Sasha for awhile now when I realized he was just a cute male villager. I mean I've talked and read up on him enough to the point I got to take him in at this point. My initial thought was that I didn't like the bangs (don't like them on most), but I've grown to accept them and at least appreciate the colors work well together unlike many other random bangs. He's an adorable little rabbit, and I'll be hunting him for sure. Sadly rabbits are a bloated roster, so the odds aren't good.

Petri is the science nerd that can dish out some fashion tips. I love that she can stand beside Raddle and Cobb while having her own distinct style to her!!!

I reserve judgment until I see default exteriors/interiors, despite HHP. They help me frame a villager’s personality a bit better. That said, Sasha, Quinn, Ione, and Ace are all S tier for me.

I like the dog (simple designs are often my favorites), Rio, the hawaiian koala and Wukong. The others are kinda there... the only one that actually caught my attention was the penguin because he looks very similar to another one (puck?).
