Hey guys, I need your help with something.

So I recently found out that I can purchase a North America-compatible white new Nintendo 3DS. I've been wanting one for ages but I can't decide whether I should buy that or just wait until the Nintendo NX comes out.

I still play ACNL and other games like Monster Hunter and ACHHD, so I would put the New Nintendo 3DS to good use...But I'm afraid of a new Animal Crossing title launching for Nintendo NX.

If you were me, what would you do? Thanks in advance for the help!

To be honest, unless you frequently use amiibo, wants to play Xenoblades(afaik only "new" title where you need a new 3ds/xl model) or snes games from the vc I would probably get a cheaper version if you're gonna wait for the NX things. And if you use amiibos you can get this small reader if you need it.

While the New 3DS XL does provide an overall improved user-experience on both the OS and games (super-stable 3D effect, faster load/download time, built-in Circle Pad Pro functions, built-in amiibo support, etc.), the hardware is far from being an essential purchase for those own any of the older 3DS variations. Your current 3DS model is still capable of playing about 95% of its library, even with the upcoming 3DS titles. You're only missing out a few New 3DS games and a selection of nicely-emulated SNES ports. Most of them can also be found on Wii U as well.

If you're that desperate for the New 3DS XL's features and its exclusive games, by all means go ahead and buy it. Otherwise, I strongly recommend saving your money for the NX, even though we don't know much about the system so far. If that console succeeds well-enough in sales, then expect it to have a great library of games. Since the lifespan for both 3DS and Wii U are about to end, it would be safe to assume that a new mainline Animal Crossing title would land on NX.

Idk about the nx, so I'll talk about the 3DS's.

I have both the original and the new 3DS. There's really no difference. I like the new version better due to the bigger screen and slightly better button placement, but all in all, it's the same as my original 3DS. I still can't use the 3D feature without feeling sick, so the extra money wasn't really worth it. I'd say that if you're in the market for a new handheld system, save your money and go for the original or the XL. Or heck, get the 2DS. Don't shell out money for the new 3DS. It's a waste.

if you hack yooooo - i better shut up

O-O-O-O

Maybe you should wait for NX and keep your money, then right after getting NX you can just go ahead and buy a new 3DS

Do you already have a 3ds? (if youre playing acnl and monster hunter, i'd say yes?)

save your money. Nintendo wants you to buy fancy new consoles with minor tweaks. you don't need it. wait for the nx.

I would recommend getting the New 3DS as the regular model is hard to come by in North America for some stupid reason (Thanks Reggie...) The Nintendo NX is still a ways off and personally, I don't have faith that it will succeed.

I would get the pearl white! I loove that version of the console (been wishing to be able to pick it up myself) and I think it would be worth it, especially for Monster Hunter. I have been playing MH Generations on the regular N3ds and can't help but thinking it would look/play extra nice on an XL console.

Saving for NX isn't a bad thought though.. I think either decision would be good, to be honest.

The NX will have to be my option as I already have a 3DS, especially the model that I wanted the most, don't really have much of a need for the *NEW* model as I've got an XL and NFC reader so I'm all good. I still have no idea what the NX is gonna turn out to be but I really do hope it turns out to be a well made success much better than the Wii U. It had some good game but not enough sales of the system alone. This the product did very poorly unfortunately. The 3DS on the other is probably Nintendo's most popular products! Has Nintendo ever done directs solely on Wii U games like directs meant only for 3DS games? I don't think so, so rest Wii U....Ill still play you but it's a shame your cycle may already be cut short soon...

In my opinion, the New3ds is just slighty better than the original one because of the fps ratio from some games, but that improved feature isn't enough to make it worthy of buying another device that, really, is just the same thing. But I repeat, that's only MY opinion.
Also, I'm not going to buy the NX (Swith) either, but if I have to advice you, I absolulety would wait for the Switch. You can start saving up from now on, too! :)
