Just to let you all know, fish made a thread about this game, too. But I am going to look closely at the game and see all it's new and old parts. I for one am definitely getting this game.
Please look at the following screenshots
Just a screenshot I was looking at. Let's look at the bottom screen. There is a long green line and on it, the start, finish, and the Mario head. His head must represent how far he has gone in the level, much like the one on Mario Kart 64. Underneath the line is the name of the level, I presume.
In the middle of the lower screen you see how many coins you have collected, how much time you have left (from Super Mario Bros.) and what your score is.
This is very interesting. At the very bottom is a storage for three items, so instead of using them automatically, as in previous titles, (besides Super Mario Bros. 3) they go to your storage and you can use them any time you please.
Another thing to notice is there are whomps and Dry Bones in this game.
Another screenshot, from Gamespy this time. Look at the upper screen. As you can see, Mario has used a mushroom. But one thing puzzles me: How is the goomba that big? Is it just the level, (like Tiny Huge Island from SM64 or the giant level from SMB3) or can enemies also use items? We also see there are fire flowers in this game.
A good multiplayer screenshot, and we now see the effect of the fireflower. You can see many interesting things in this screenshot: The mushrooms tilt when weight is added, the strange ? block, and many of the enemies designs.
The last screenshot I want to point out at the moment, only for a few things
-You can punch in this game
-Swirly things from SM64 are here, and
-The different color ? block.
Well, those are some of the many new and old things of this game. I can't wait to play it!
