I remember last year we were given a chance to write out resolutions/or goals for this year. I recently found my old resolutions and it's quite a shame looking at them after all that has happened this year and me not meeting hardly any of my goals.

Here's mine:

Does anyone remember yours or do you have an idea what you're hoping to do next year?

I think I only have three I wanna focus on at the moment:
- work on understanding my mental health and anexity.
- finish working on a short story, that I am halfway in already!
- continue working on my arts & crafts, photography.

Trying to remember, since most of 2020 is a fog.

I think I wanted to get progress on my story bible for my series. I did get that; I wasn't able to really type much in November, so I opted to work on the binder. I got 50 or so hours in on it.

I had several knit projects I wanted to complete. Totally fell down on this, mainly because of my hand. Now that my surgery is done and I'm fully recovered, I'll be picking up my needles again and doing some stuff.

Those were the main things I remember. This year, I'd like to continue working on the story bible, and in November (NaNoWriMo) I want to do one of the rewrites that need doing. Plenty of time to figure that out.

I'd like to start knitting again. I have a blanket I started for my dad. It's big, so I don't know if I can finish it this year, but I can certainly put a dent in it. I also have some lovely lace weight silk that I want to use for a parasol for myself. And finish the 2nd of a pair of socks. That is enough to start with. If I finish, there are always other projects I can slot in, but no pressure on myself.

I usually do the Goodreads reading challenge. Somewhere around 100 books. Went way over that this year, although I didn't count, but I may skip the counting again this year.

I bought a day planner to keep track of things. It's sort of a cross between doing a bujo and calendar, and I'm looking forward to filling it up.

That's about it. I find that if I make too long a list, I don't get anything done. Keeping it to smaller bites, I have a good chance of succeeding this year.

One of my resolutions last year was to find the bravery to dye my hair a royal blue colour. I finally did this recently!

For this year:
  • Attend church every Sunday - even virtually. It keeps me stable and balanced. I like having that 45 minutes a week that I can sit down, listen, apply what I'm hearing to my own life, and simply reflect.
  • I decided to quit drinking a couple months ago. For people who have been long-term members of TBT's IRC/Discord it's known I used to be a very heavy drinker. While I've had the occasional relapse (primarily in social situations so I've not kicked myself too heavily) I've done really well in breaking the habit. I would like to maintain this in 2021.
  • Workout 5 days a week. This is a habit I started when I quit drinking and I want to maintain it.
  • In honour of my late friend Gale, I'm looking to write 100 words a day on my creative writing projects. She was a priest and the author of a fantasy series and my love and respect for her and her teachings transcends death.
  • Work a little everyday on a professional project. I'm collaborating on a project with someone I greatly admire that requires both written and artistic skill and it will hopefully go public in 2021.

Agh I have too many... Trying to narrow it down. But here's what I'm choosing from:
- Finally reach my fitness goal.
- Do better with practicing my religion while at home/on my own time (since I can't go to church). Better relationship with God.
- Be better in school so that I don't wreck my 4.0. Last semester I still pulled off As but it was by skin of my teeth haha, and I don't want to do that again.
- Be more outspoken, confident and assertive. Stop being afraid to voice my opinions even if they're unpopular.
- Stop sucking at money management and start saving up for a 2022 trip to Russia.
- Stop self-isolating while using the excuse of my busy schedule and form some closer friendships/relationships.

hey I love your hair! -- I posted at the same time as you and I have this resolution too!!!! :) It's so easy to get lazy with church when you can't go in person. And then therefore get lazy with doing that weekly spiritual reflection. I miss the stability it brought. Good luck with your resolutions!! I just had to comment in solidarity lol.

One of my resolutions last year was to find the bravery to dye my hair a royal blue colour. I finally did this recently!

This is the shade I want for my hair! I can never get the blues to look this vibrant, so usually compromise with a plummy purple. If you don't mind me asking, what did you use?

I had the goals of going out more and seeing my friends more last year, which got ruined by the pandemic. This year I have to prepare for university to start in september, so my goals are mainly on self-improvement and sorting out my life before then,,

- I need to buy a lot of new clothes since I don't have much right now and all of mine are old and ratty as heck, don't suit my style, look awful, and are too big for me. I'm interested in fashion so I'm kinda looking forward to this one.
- learn to drive
- send off my form for a new passport
- continue to improve with skincare, makeup, and general beauty
- I have to finish decorating my bedroom, including getting a new floor, painting furniture, buying new furniture, and organising everything
- read more and get through all my unread books (lbr this probably won't happen)
- if the pandemic is over, to go out more, maybe I could even go on holiday before uni starts 🥺

There are a few things I'm working towards over the next year, though my main focus is writing.

- Get back into the habit of writing every day for at least 30 minutes. I've been building a bank of writing prompts to help as an initial guide, and plan to sprinkle in a few online classes for storytelling and writing in general throughout the year.

- Read (and complete) 1-3 books per month, and document those read

- Participate in NaNoWriMo 2021 (I have a rough direction for this already)

- To stop being content with being comfortable and leave my current job by spring 2021 to transition back into a partial or full HR role, ideally with a small to medium-sized business in the education or human services clusters. I have a few connections with people in non-profit and hope to be in a role where I'm able to directly support individuals find and retain productive employment

- Settle into a new apartment by summer 2021. I currently room with a few others and I've outgrown the idea

- Put more effort into being proactive in my personal relationships. I've been extremely dismissive - sometimes a bit too selfish - over the years and have ended up causing hurt towards a couple of people without fully realizing it. I want to be more conscious of this

It’s hard to have goals, honestly. My depression is consuming me and being in perpetual lockdown isn’t helping my outlook. I just want to fight to stay alive. At least for a while. That’s the goal.

I don't usually set goals or resolutions for the new year because if I realize something in my life needs to change, I usually try to start working on it right away. But due to this year's exceptional circumstances, I feel the need for some motivation in 2021, even if it's just to continue doing the things I'm currently doing.

1. Continue working on my Japanese language lessons daily with the ultimate goal of being able watch full anime episodes without subtitles. I don't expect to reach that long-term goal this year, though.

2. Possibly work on refreshing my Spanish if I begin to feel comfortable enough with my Japanese so that I don't interfere with that.

3. Continue the progress with my chiropractor of correcting my back issues so that I can hopefully sleep pain free again at some point.

4. Work on my mental health issues, which will probably involve reaching out for therapy at some point, but I'm trying to wait for the pandemic to ease up a bit first.

5. Figure out a way to be content with my job or find another job that I can be content with so that I don't end work stressed every single day.

I stopped calling them "New Years Resolutions" because I notice if I call it that, I don't really follow through on them. 😣 Instead, I just call them goals because that way to me it seems more long-term. But some of my goals are to get through university, get a driver's license (yeah I'm really late), and take better care of my overall health.

l don't think l planned out any goals for this year. But my goals for next year is l hope to get a reused new 3ds xl for some reason, get 3 of my RH dream dolls, and get a new car.

My 2020 goals were:
-Read 12 books
I sort of achieved my book goal, I think I only did maybe 11 total books because I tried out several books that I had to abandon half way through. I also took a philosophy course which took away from some of my reading time but I still consider that to be a constructive use of my time.

-Go camping this summer
I meant camping with friends. Which couldn't happen for obvious reasons. I did get to go camping with my mom though.

-Eat less meat
I'll give this one a semi pass also. I did eat less meat but I still probably could do better so I'll continue to work on this one.

-Make a hair change
I haven't been able to get a haircut in a really long time so this also hasn't happened. I originally wanted to do sort of a dip dye hair style but now the bottom of my hair is so rough looking that I don't want to draw attention to it with dye.

Since all those goals were only semi successful I'm going to be repeating all of them but in addition I want to add the following goals for 2021:
-7000+ steps per day at least 5 days per week
I easily get this at my job, but when I was unemployed this year I really noticed how much of a difference not getting these steps made. So I just want to commit to doing this even if I lose my job again.

-Move house!
This is a goal because I can't allow myself to be lazy and resign the lease for my current place. As much as moving is terrible and stressful, I gotta do it because my current place is just NOT working for me.

i say this every year but this year im finally going to fulfill my new years resolution of not being a lazy couch potato and actually start a weekly workout routine :) i tried before but i did like 4 weeks before i gave up and got lazy LOL maybe also try to use makeup more,,,, im 21 and all my friends are all glowed up with makeup except me because (guess what) i'm LAZY ;-;

My resolutions this year are based around creating a more healthy morning and night routine. I want to wake up earlier and start my day off relaxed with 15 minutes of meditation, instead of rushing to get ready. I also want to journal before bed and sleep earlier to get a full 8 hours. I'm also going to try to do yoga on my days off.

Yes, it is such a hard thing to stay motivated to keep on top of sometimes. The pay-off is absolutely worth it though. On weeks I don't bother I am absolutely more manic and more inclined to make questionable decisions. 😂

Also thank you, and good luck to you too!

This is the shade I want for my hair! I can never get the blues to look this vibrant, so usually compromise with a plummy purple. If you don't mind me asking, what did you use?
I used Manic Panic Rockabilly Blue on bleached hair.

Always up for discussing everything writing-related and NaNo!

I think last year my resolutions were to work out more and stop being lazy, eat better, and improve on art.
Obviously most of them didn't go too well. I started to work out more towards the end of the year so that was at least somewhat successful and my eating habits are still not great. I also gave up on art halfway through the year because it was just too stressful soo-

here's my new resolutions:
-Eat better
-Work out more (part 2)
-Practice on guitar, piano, and singing for at least 30 mins a day
-Improve on my acting (I think I need to improve, but I've been told by my teacher/friends that i'm great :/)
-Kind of a part 2 with acting, but really work on memorization. I'm definitely not the best at memorizing lines.

I didn’t have any New Years resolutions last year, but I do have a few goals for this year:

- Wax my legs regularly (I have very hairy legs) so I can actually wear all my skirts and pinafores (I know I don’t have to wax my legs in order to wear skirts and stuff, as there’s nothing wrong with body hair at all, but ever since I was little I was always overly self-conscious of my body hair, especially as I seem to have a lot more than most people)

- Read a book for at least 30 minutes per day, or at least read one book a month (I used to love reading books, but ever since I discovered fanfiction I’ve stopped... so I really want to get back into reading books again! I plan to re-read the warrior cats series and hopefully read every book in the series, I used to absolutely love that series growing up)

- Start and finish the online art character course I bought a few months ago to help improve my art

That’s all I can think of for now, but I might add more if I think of anymore!

I’m going to choose goals I’m already working towards for resolutions this year. Knowing all of these things are obtainable makes me more inclined to do them:

- Find a part time job with my job recruiter. I feel bad for still relying on my parents and it would be good practice for future careers.

- Start college online. I delayed college due to COVID, but I really need some semblance of a schedule. Hopefully I can find ways to make online school easier than when I was a preteen.

- Finally make a consistent sleep schedule. I have ruined my sleep pattern ever since leaving High School. It’s gotten to the point where I’m drowsy at noon. I also just miss the morning air.

- Flatten my belly. While my weight is at a good number, I’d like to finally trim the small belly I’ve had since childhood. I hope it will help with some of my image problems.
