- "The animals will accept any design created for them, making the specific "request" almost entirely redundant. For example, designing a pink home for an animal that requests a blue one has no consequence, and the animal will be satisfied with the result."

I already assumed this would be the case based on previous interviews, but I totally understand why some people are disappointed over it. I imagine there will be a lot of people who buy the game and end up pretty disappointed not realizing this is the case.

After reading the above, I have a couple of thoughts:

At present, in AC:NL, if a villager asks us to get them a non-specific butterfly or piece of fruit, we get an increase in friendship for bringing them any old butterfly or fruit. However, we get a further increase in friendship for bringing them a higher-value butterfly or a piece of perfect fruit. Is it possible that there may be degrees of satisfaction in HHD based on the homes we design? There may be no basic consequences (i.e., we'll still unlock stuff regardless), but perhaps there's a degree of scale to this, or perhaps there might be other potential ramifications that aren't yet covered or readily evident in a few hours of gameplay. This is pure speculation on my part, so give it no credence - I'm just musing.

It's also been indicated that we'll be able to take screenshots of what we design and share them with others. This also makes me think of AC:NL--of this forum, actually--and all the time and care that many take to design their own homes, plot their villagers just so, landscape perfectly, etc. There are no consequences in AC:NL for doing or not-doing this (beyond a certain point). Many of the "consequences" of a villager not plotting where we want, etc. are purely based on the value and importance we ourselves apply to these things. We set our own goals when playing AC:NL, beyond the goals and achievements of the game itself, and I think this will be exactly the same in HHD. Ultimately, it won't matter as much whether the animals are satisfied; what will matter is that we ourselves are satisfied.

hah even if the animals just take what we give them i'll still try to stay true to what they want c:

I mean i definitely do see how some people would be upset that there isnt like a ranking system or something. But didnt they also say you can upload your photos of your design to Miiverse? I bet that'll put some fire in people to design the best house they could.
Also if you really hated a villager you could give them a bad house. Which is what i plan on doing for Whinney or however you spell that horses name haha. She refused to leave my old town for so long haha.

Another point I just thought of would be the town buildings, like the school and hospital and stuff. Didnt we see in a trailer that there are certain requirements for those buildings? So you can technically fail at designing those buildings i guess haha.

All in all i can't wait for this game! But first I have to complete my new acnl town haha

I would rather have not known about this, then when ai make the villagers happy no matter what, I'd just think I was super good..!
But then when I find out on the wiki that they accept anything, I'd hate nintendo. D:<

So the clock works like Pikmin or Style Savvy?

It works more as, you can design someone's house and then that's the working day over - it's night. To my understanding, anyway. You can begin the next day though, so there isn't exactly a limit on how many houses you can build in an irl day

It's nice that there is no limit like there would be in common designing/building games (Smash stage editor) where you can only put so much in.
