About a week ago, I got extremely lucky and found Raymond on an island without really looking for him. I invited him to my island of course and so far he's been as good as advertised. His house is nice, but what I really like about it is when I open up his safe full of gold bars and my character says "There's nothing in here." It's also funny how Raymond doesn't care that I open the safe and that he doesn't lock it. You'd think he'd have his money stashed in an offshore account, but I guess there isn't much of a point to that when he already lives on an island with no financial regulations. Another cute moment was when I saw him sitting on the beach and he told me "I'm on my break." which is actually in character for him instead of just some random dialogue. Today he was crafting a document stack which I found really adorable. I know these events are probably just really lucky RNG, but Raymond feels like the first villager I've had that has a really in-depth theme and acts in ways that fit that theme. I'm definitely on the Raymond bandwagon now, and I don't think he's ever leaving my island.

Yeah, 'I'm on a break' is just smug dialogue, as will be all the stuff he come out with about being in a band and training to be an actor.

i think "i'm on my break" is just a smug thing, kyle does it very often
But it's more adorable when Raymond says it because he's a corporate employee/executive so it makes sense for him to say I'm on my break. If Quillson said that to me, it wouldn't be the same because he comes across as someone who doesn't have a real job.

I think he knows, but don't kill his vibe lol connecting with a villager is fun

When Raymond's design was first shown, I instantly knew that I was going to love him. He reminded me a little of Ignis from Final Fantasy XV and that drew me to him even more. ( I even have him saying 'New Recipeh' as his catchphrase )

I went island hopping and got him almost immediately, which made me believe it was meant to be, haha.

I absolutely adore him. I love his house and the fact that he waves with both of his hands.

I find the hate for him to be childish. v_V; I remember putting up something on twitter because Raymond was teaching me an expression and belted out 'I love you' and it warmed my heart and so many people in the comments were being nasty over a video game cat. It's silly.

I'm never letting office cat, leave me and I'm happy to see others connect with him. ; v ;

I invited Raymond to my island while villager hunting but for some reason he declined due to me smelling alot like bleach. I'm worried they are becoming self aware.
They can decline? That would really stink if you found a dreamie with an open plot and then they can decline for some reason.

He said it's due to me smelling like bleach which worries me because I haven't smelt like bleach since the incident.

wow what did quillson do to be dunked on like this 😔 😔 😔 😔 😔

I'm not someone who goes after villagers just because they're popular and I wouldn't have gone out of my way to buy Raymond from someone else, but I was able to find him "organically" without going through hundreds of NMT or TTing, so I decided to take a flyer on him. I didn't know if he was worth the hype at first, but I figured the worst case scenario would be me selling him to someone else if I didn't like him that much. Everyone loves Raymond (had to get that in) is a bit of an exaggeration, but he is popular for a reason. I like Raymond not just because of his appearance but because of the overall package. He is as well put together as any villager I can remember. I think most opinions of him are over the top in one direction or the other, but I don't hate on popular villagers on other people's islands just like I don't hate on unpopular villagers (except Quillson because he invaded my island as my forced campsite villager and won't leave).

I don't think Raymond has a real job either - I mean, he's stuck on a desert island surrounded by other talking animals, with a local economy which seems to consist almost entirely of a family of raccoons and a visiting piglet.

He's clearly suffering some kind of breakdown, the poor chap!

😂

He probably works from home, especially since quarantine started.

Shep says the same stuff.

It isn't cyoot though.
Not while he is still wearing that suit of lights that I delivered and autosave kicked in before I could undo the damage. :)

I recently got him too. I really like him so far, and I've gone through a few smugs before deciding on him. I really love gray cats - if I had the option, I would have bought a Russian Blue irl.

Raymond looks good in everything he wears. I recently put him in a mermaid dress at harvy's, and he looked so nice in it. Haven't decided on whether I should gift him the maid dress yet, though.
