Alright well someone's gonna post this anyway eventually so might as well sooner than later.

Here's the first image leaked about a week ago:

There was quite the split in opinion on this one with many believing it to be fake as hell, but it still gathered quite a bit of attention.

Now today, these two images have come out from another source, leading many to believe some amount of legitimacy:

EDIT: another

Here is other information that was included with the later two images:

- Only the upper 'nubs' of the sticks move. The bottom part is static (kind of like the circle pad, but it moves along the bottom 'sphere'.
- The rollers on the top feel and look pretty much identical to a mouse scroll-wheel. Though I do don't believe this will be the final design.
- Haptic feedback is feels like Apples 'taptic' engine. Not like regular rumble.
- 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom

Thoughts so far?

I should be clear and mention that these are simply just images in the wild, there is nothing confirmed to verify them as legitimate, take them as is and with a healthy dose of salt. I enjoy the speculation over these things regardless of if they are true or not, I'm not saying they are necessarily true.

What... the hell is that? That is not a good start. I'm not convinced this is real though. That is just something else.

I remember seeing a patent that looked similar to this. However, if I recall correctly, the screen didn't cover the entire thing. It was more in the middle or something..

Yup, there's a fairly familiar patent from a while ago. Some images from that:

Gross! It hope it's not the real deal. Just slap the Pro Controller on all future consoles from now on because it's marvelous.

So a Treehouse employee from Nintendo of America retweeted it: https://twitter.com/ravscl/status/712717150264274945

What the hell is going on?

I'm assuming that means fake and laughing at everyone but it's strange, usually it's standard to not comment or say a thing about rumours.

EDIT: Annnd he deleted it.

The prototype controller looks like it's as comfortable as a PS1/PS2/PS3 DualShock controller, that is if there are attachable handles that comes with it. Without those things, I suppose it would feel like if we're holding the legendary SNES controller, except the corners are more like ovals as opposed to rounded.
I'm kinda worried the virtual buttons won't provide a satisfying tactile feedback that would tell if the input is registered, similar on how an average mobile touchscreen works.

Most of the features I've seen on the controller were also very similar to the Wii U GamePad. That black spot reminds me of the IR that would be used to turn the TV on, adjust TV volume and switch TV channels. With such a small screen size and possibility of buttons taking too much space, it might not be practical for it to emulate a Wii U game. I'll have a hard time believing that this prototype controller would function beyond the room where the NX console is. There might be a possibility for the controller to double as a typical Nintendo handheld for games that use little to no buttons to begin with, such as Super Mario Bros.

I personally wish that this controller is not the next controller for a a Nintendo home console. I like the feeling of actual buttons compared to a touchscreen, which is part of the reason why it took me until last year to get a smartphone. If Nintendo thinks that the NX will sell just because of the controller being unique, the NX will flop just like the Wii U. It may have worked for the Wii, but if you are like me, you are tired of all the gimmicks. I wish that Nintendo would adopt a controller in the vain of the GameCube controller or the Wii U Pro Controller and focus more on the hardware side of the console, making it as powerful as it possibly could for a very reasonable price. Gunpei Yokoi's philosophy was great in the day for the Game Boy and maybe the Wii, but those times are over and Nintendo needs to be competitive with the other companies again.

looks cool- but it looks like something you would plug into a PS3 or PS4.
Pretty sure this is fake. I hope it is.

Fake or not it looks fine to me

Don't really understand why people are so eager to complain about anything that isn't like a gamecube controller- o wait nvm

If this is real, I'm gonna be in OCD hell because I'd be constantly finding smudges on the screen and having to go away and whip them before I play anything. I don't plan to get the NX anyway, though. To be brutally honest, I don't really think the NX is a good idea. I think Nintendo should stick to the 3DS and the Wii U for many more years and focus on making good games instead of social networks.

That's totally me with my 3DS right now lol. It's the same with my Wii U Gamepad :/

I'm still perplexed by the second one (the black one). There's no way that one is legit now but that one honestly convinced for the most part. First one was always pretty sketchy. The dude claims to have no idea about the black one and assumes someone else must have copied his.
