Probably going to be controversial, but I think perhaps The Cellar should be reserved for the official games, and other games can go in The Basement like the old days. History thread should be reserved for the official games as well, although I believe that's already the case. By badges, do you mean like a collectible?
if he does means collectibles, personally I think it would be a bad idea because it make people play only for the collectible not the game, then there would be more inactives.

Maybe you have to be active in the forum/games to get the collectible.

I think a collectible is a ridiculous idea. Like C r y s t a l said, inactive that join for the collectible. I don't think we need a reward to play Mafia, we play because we enjoy it (kinda) so why would a benefit of a sort be needed?

make tbt bells allowed in the cellar so ppl will post more than one liners maybe
but tbh it will be hard to know if theyre inactive or not if theyre a newbie. we will just have to endure it. as for inactives who continue to be inactive, then tbh they're the ones who need to change.

if we do collectibles can we get a salt shaker

I don't because we have a mafia board, we might as well use it for mafia, eh?

But the thing is, the unofficial games were the reason why we had to create this queue in the first place. Allowing unofficial games means that those hosts don't have to follow the banlists, and the rules we're setting up here. It allows people who may not be ready to host to just be like "Oh I'm going to start a game" and override people who wait for their game on the queue. It means people who are banned for certain reasons get to play a game even if they've committed game-breaking offenses, for example.

That's something I wanted to ask; Unofficial games will effect the official queue?

if it does that's honestly annoying. That's going to push back other people on the waiting list even further :|

Maybe unofficial games have much less players making them much shorter and having less spam. If they were shorter I don't think it would interfere with queue as much.

I have to disagree, we have a big board dedicated to a single game they ought to stay here. As for the badge thing, it was something silly off the top of my head similar (or is) to a collectible. I really can't think of anything that would make official games stand out compared to unofficial.

what is the point of unofficial games may I ask?
When I think unofficial I think "I'm a cop you idiot" and extremely experimental setups personally.

There doesn't seem to be any point in there being a queue! I might be missing something but that my view. Just keep them "Official"?

The point to the queue is to keep the board from being flooded and inactivity levels getting worse than it already is.

I know the point of the queue, my post said there would be no point in having a queue if we had unofficial games going...

I don't really see the need for unofficial games, personally - I'd rather we opened another official queue called "Experimental games" or something where you could try some really crazy stuff out, and everyone who chose to participate are aware of the fact that it might unfold chaotically right from the start. Though the games should still be serious, of course - Just different. (Like Cell Mafia, for instance!) But honestly, I am not sure it's needed at all. A new game starting just as the old one is about to wrap up seems like the best way forward.

However, the primary issue for me is the inactivity. Even veterans to the game are signing up when they technically don't have much time to play, or ever really intend to put much effort into it. I've also noticed that some players who play in a Main and Mini at the same time focus 90% of their efforts into one of the games and barely post in the other. I think that if you get modkilled due to inactivity or rule violations, you should be banned from all games and queues (including hosting!) for at least 30 days, provided that you do not have a very good excuse for your actions.

And some people really need to stop posting after they're dead, even if all they're doing is joking around. I think it's mostly harmless when a player does it once in a blue moon and I don't think that is something to make a big deal out of, but some people seem to do it in every single game that they participate in more or less, and multiple times. I think that should earn you a ban as well. Especially since these individuals get told off repeatedly and never learn from it..

Furthermore, I think banned players should not be allowed to Observe games either, just to make it sting a little extra. And like others have suggested, people who have been banned previously might be denied entry to future games as well even after serving their time-out penalty - That will be up to the host to decide.

Yes, this is what Lauren and I did.

Pretty much, we decided after oath brought it up, members who are banned should have no involvement in the game, be that playing or observing the game, obviously we cant stop them watching but not giving them a link to Obs stops them discussing it at the time with other people who have Obs.

Maybe there should be a limit on how many unofficial mafia games happen.
Maybe one at a time? Or every 2 months?

But what is the need for unofficial? It defeats the object of a queue? We made the queue to keep order! Allowing unofficial games would disrupt the order that was created, unofficial games are no different to official games.
