Official Turnip Prices Thread

you did the right thing . ive been a host before and with turnips that high, a lot of people will want to come. its stressful and time consuming. there's nothing wrong to ask for an entrance fee (which were all reasonable)

I disagree. I've had people come to my town before, and I don't like charging them. Turnips is just a way to make a profit, and most of us give tips that are way better than golden nuggets or gold furniture. :/ I don't have any of that, so it makes me sad that I can't go over to his town because of my disadvantage. :(

Turnips in my town are 393 bells at the moment, if anyone wishes to sell them here then just pm me, I won't charge.

This.
Entrance fees and tips are certainly not needed or required. If I get a lot of profit I usually tip. However, entrance fees? That's the first time I have ever even heard of someone doing that.

If I had good turnip prices, I'd let people visit my town for free. If they're willing to tip, then that's nice but it's not required. Saying that, my Re-Tail unfortunately only buys turnips for 35 bells each xD

I kinda have to agree...charging an entrance fee is kind of crazy and just rude. Not ALL of us have millions upon millions of bells to spend much less have any of those items to give/spare. I only ever ask for people to spare what they can/want to my PWPs that are going on - and if they can't well...no loss.

In other news...that damn alpaca refuses to go above 64 bells for me! She hates me... :(

Ill pay 1mil to take multiple trips(not 1mil per trip, ill pay in portions each time i visit) to sell turnips in your town if your retail's buying price is 450+
I might need to take around 4 trips at most.

Disagree if you want....but its's HIS requirement. I am in the same boat as you, i dont charge a fee either, but having been a host before, i can tell you its time consuming. With prices that high, people will flock to him. There is nothing wrong with cutting out his demographic by only allowing people who may have something he wants. His wants aren't unreasonable either. Sure, it may be tough to get some roses or gold nuggets, etc....but a 10% tip is more than reasonably acquired (in which he had no limit set). So even if you only profitted 100k, what is wrong with asking 10k? It isnt rude, period. Greedy? thats questionable. He took the time to host someone. I look at it like going to a restaurant with a party of 8 or more where gratuity is added.

Its a game people...and its his towna and he can do whatever he wants with it. If you dont like it, move on to the next person, but blantly calling someone rude like that.....is RUDE!

But what about the people who don't have any of the things you want? We get denied. I always tip, and I think a tip is much better than having some golden furniture. Nothing's wrong with asking for money, but everything is wrong when you ask for things most people simply do not have.
I'm not continuing this debate - it's wrong IMO, it's right to you, so whatever. But no one will want to come to a town that is that demanding.

I agree with you 100%! I am only at his defense because ultimately its his decision and his rules. People are making him out to be the bad guy, and thats not right. One of his requirement is a 10% tip, and even you say thats not wrong. Right? He's not asking that you have all of those things, just one of them. And you are right, i wouldnt want to come to a town that is demanding either. i rather have people who are as nice as you :)

i just commented because people get all flustered over a game, for no reason at all

The reason why I referred to him as rude it because he was rude; not because of his silly requirements. And since you can see what he posted I'm sure you'd see yourself.

I'm not sure why would anyone feel like the visitors are entitled to visit any host.

If the host demands an entrance fee, that within his bounds.
As a visitor, you should at least respect the host rules. If you can't offer anything, at least try to barter. Such as giving 10% of your turnips you're selling.

Sure, it is upsetting if you can't sell. You can complain about how everything should be free of charge, and how there shouldn't be a demand for an entrance fee. But at least realized it doesn't mean you were entitled to even visit in the first place.

Bottom line, the host gets the final say.
He can even decide not to even open or time travel back at all if he wanted to, and continue playing normally.

I have turnips at 529. I do have a tip rule and other rules.

1. Tip 99K per trip. Sell, then drop before returning to your locker. Drop infront of train station please.
2. No running. Retail isn't far, no need to run
3. Go to retail and train station, nowhere else. Feel free to buy anything in retail.
4. Don't stop to talk to villagers, it just slows everything down.
5. Do not leave, I will end session when everyone is done.

I currently have groups on gamefaqs waiting, if you would like to come, i will add you to the group at the time of your post.

I agree with this!!! :) I've never been a host before, but I know they are usually on for many many hours just having their gates open for people to sell. The fact they are already doing this for others is generous, so if they do have rules, then others should respect it. It's their town so they are entitled to do whatever they want.

Hi!!! I would really love it if I could come :) I have 4 characters and I'll tip generously!

Personally, I don't care whether or not people charge people - I just want nothing to do with people like that.

It's nice to get tipped by grateful people, but I never demand it. I also try to tip others for letting me visit their town so long as they accept it.

All in all, I see no reason to charge, but yes, it is within a Mayor's right to do so. But that doesn't change the fact that most people who do it are either rude and/or greedy, since there really is no legit reason for doing so in the first place. (and no, "but it's wasting my precious time" isn't an excuse - you're choosing to let visitors in. Don't want your time wasted? Then don't do it. Simple.)

Do you tip your waitress for the time and effort they put in serving you? Or are they greedy for expecting you to tip them for their service?

You can't compare real life to a game.

Why not? Both people are putting in effort for a service. Pretty sure people make a living of off selling stuff on diablo 3.

You earn a great amount, and it's not too much to ask for you to not be greedy and tip a %. The same way you tip a waitress for their effort, you tip a turnip seller for their effort. The 1st one is real life where you pay with real money, the 2nd is a video game where you pay with video game money.

If you sell stuff in a store, you don't then then complain at the property owner that they are charging you to use their property.
