As time goes by, many things you would remember as a kid or as a young adult (that are long gone) would not be known by the newer generations. Of course, everyone will know about something, but they wouldn’t be old enough to remember experiencing it.

Keep in mind that anybody can read this thread, but do not post if you were born after 1999. This is for those born in the 20th century. Also, do not list anything from 2013 or later. People these days may not remember the stuff from the 2000s, but they do from the 2010s.

What did you remember from your childhood or some other time that people these days wouldn’t know (unless if they did research or spent time with older people)? Name as many things as you can.

Update: I made this thread back in 2020 just to discuss stuff from prior to 2010. It’s now 2023, so you can discuss stuff from 2010 to 2012 now.

I got a lot to say because I have a strong memory. However, I’ll keep it in a smaller list and post here a couple of times.
  • McDonaldland and the spinoff cartoon The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald.
  • Rocket Rods and when it operated in Disneyland.
  • Windows 98
  • Bionicle (especially the 2001-2003 sets)
  • When Taco Bell and a few other fast foods have kids meals and toys within kids meals.
  • When there were only four oceans or when Pluto was a planet.
  • The Taco Bell dog
  • When McDonald’s didn’t have apple dippers or milk jugs.
  • The Astrodome and when it was used.
  • Video rental stores (such as Blockbuster and Hollywood).
Even still, I’m too young to remember many things most of us wouldn’t remember.

How many people on this site remember watching Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, The Walton’s, Little House on the Prairie, Wonder Woman, The Bionic Man, Three’s Company, The Love Boat, WKRP in Cincinnati just to name a few the first time they were on tv?

I watched quite a few of those, some on reruns but some during their original airing. I loved Wonder Woman with Linda Carter. I had Wonder Woman underwear and I would tie a blanket around my neck like a cape (because why couldn't Wonder Woman have a cape like Superman?) and use the belt from my aunt's yellow robe as my lasso of truth.

I also remember the old McDonald's playgrounds where the equipment was shaped like the characters, Grimace, Mayor McCheese, and so on, and you could climb in them or on them.

I remember a time before the internet existed and I used the family set of encyclopedias to research everything.

I remember Tang, Flintstones vitamins, and Jell-O Pudding Pops.

I remember the Getalong Gang, the Shirt Tales, the Gummi Bears, Rainbow Brite, the original My Little Pony, the original Thundercats, the original He-Man and She-Ra.

I remember when these plastic charm necklaces were the height of fashion in elementary school.

Ok this might not be a great one but I'm old enough to remember when McDonald's had caramel dip for the apples. I miss that so much, it was probably horrible for me but I didn't care.

I also watched re-runs of Mork and Mindy, She-Ra, the 1966 Batman (same bat time, same bat channel!). It was fun watching them, but I watched them in the 2000's (I'm not old, I swear!).

I'm surprised ya'll remember things, looking at the people on the streets it seems like most have forgotten about the coronavirus already so I thought that most people don't remember stuff.

Also, these:

Same, I look at a past photo and get angry that people stood so close together. My brain is confused I think.
Also, I wasn't like an emo kid or anything, but I totally had one of those at one point in my life.

Although I'm not that old, I still remember using vhs tapes, I remember watching like care bears and blue's clues on them. I also used to love the u.b. funkeys games, they're pretty similar to Skylanders and now that I think about it, it's kind of like club penguin in a way. Of course, I remember when Cingular was still around and was always fascinated with that ringtone as a child.
