Old enough to remember...

Some other things I remember:

- Slap bracelets
- Hypercolor shirts
- When MTV played music videos
- Headbanger's Ball
- Early home computers that used DOS commands before Windows or Apple made life so much easier
- Early PC games like Oregon Trail and Number Crunchers that we got to play sometimes in the computer lab at school
- Playing games on the Atari at home (Pac-Man, River Raid, Kaboom!)
- Pagers

I'm born in 95 and just passed being a millennial. I remember the floppy disk from IT classes in school

I watched classic Disney movies on casette tapes (used to have cabinet full of cassette tapes, takes up a lot of space) and would always be horrified when the spools came undone and it had to be fixed

Ah! Clippy, how I missed you. Clippy had a sense of humour too!

The multipurpose mobile phone of pre-2000 to early 2000. Would always be envious of the cool kids that had newer or high-end ones

Sony Ericson Walkman.jpg

Bucky O'Hare
Voltron
Duck Tales
Biker Mice from Mars
RoboTech
SWAT Kats
Mighty Max
Batman: The Animated Series
Skip It
Pogs
New Kids on the Block
Sweet Valley High
Doogie Howser, M.D.
Rainbow Brite

I'm going to stop before I get way too nostalgic.

Old enough to remember the pain of rewinding a vhs tape. The worst however was having to try to clean them when the tape would skip -- except you are five years old and have no idea what you are doing. However, I also remember the sad day when we packed them all up in a cardboard box to giveaway since we were switching over to dvds!

Woah what MTV doesn't play music videos anymore? Haha I never realized that!

The last time I checked, which was admittedly many years ago, MTV was focused more on reality shows like The Real World. I honestly have no idea what they play now, but I remember when it was music videos pretty much 24/7 with a few VJs giving news updates and the occasional interview.

I also remember collecting Garbage Pail Kids cards.

I remember candy cigarettes, Big League Chew and Fruit Stripe gum.

I remember watching the OJ Simpson car chase live and his trial.

I saw the fall of the Berlin Wall.

I remember watching the Challenger explode on live TV. We were watching it at school and none of the teachers knew what to do. Some just stood there in stunned silence while others kept asking, "Should we turn it off?" It's still a very emotional and vivid memory for me.

That's so sad. I have a similar memory from watching the twin towers live as well, in a classroom with some classmates who lost friends and family in the attacks. :(

I remember seeing an advertisement for Moon Shoes. I didn’t know that you can fall easily with these shoes. Yeah, ads are totally misleading.
Honestly I probably didn't "almost die", that was an exaggeration for humor but yes I almost was injured in a pair and after that I was horrified and never wore them again LOL. Horrible for everyone IMO. I guess I kinda get why they thought it was a great idea but the execution was clearly lacking.

also i begged my mom for a juicy couture velour tracksuit when i was like 6 or 7

Gather 'round, children. Auntie Imbri will share some things she remembers from her childhood.

- Saturday morning cartoons, which phased into Creature Double Feature, shown on one of the 5 channels you got with your antenna.
- Corded phones. If you were lucky, you'd have a long cord so you could take it to another room for privacy. Usually, you were stuck in the kitchen or living room, because that's where the phone was. I got an extension when I was in high school, and that was a big deal.
- Speaking of phones, waiting until after 7:00 to call long distance because the rates went down.
- Playing Zork on a Commodore 64 that had a tape drive.
- Lawn darts. What could go wrong?
- Clackers. Seriously, not a smart toy to give to children.
- Dixie cups with mercury in them. Dump it on a piece of paper during science class to see how it would bead up.
- Scholastic Book Fair. Saved my allowance for weeks for that.
- Mr. Bill.
- Merlin. It was shaped like an old cordless phone, but it could play 6 different games.
- Squimles.
- Sea Monkeys, Magic Rocks, and Pet Rocks.

-silly bands
-cathode monitors
-listening to taking back Sunday on an mp3 player that used 2 double a batteries
-spending all my book fair money on a chocolate scented calculator instead of something that would actually benefit my brain
-we didn't have cable growing up so I watched bible story vhs tapes and reading rainbow
-disney channel movies (when we finally got cable) lemonade mouth, radio rebel, camp rock, high school musical
