Opinions on ads/adblock?

i *think* i had adblock on my old laptop but since having my new one for quite a few months now i haven't installed it, i don't rly mind ads tbh

I have adblock enabled by default because so many sites just have malicious/spyware ads or ads that hijack the entire screen randomly. It's just not safe to leave it up these days imo. However, for sites that I frequent (like tbt) I do some quick digging and if their ads seem harmless enough, I disable it to support the developers of the site, as long as I don't end up getting hijack ads. Never had any regret disabling it here for instance.

I instantly nope away from sites that hijack the entire screen and tell you to disable your adblocker before letting you in though, you just know if they are that desperate to show you ads they are also likely to have the really scummy kind of ads as well.

Ads are so annoying on YouTube. Like I was trying to watch videos on my phone and every single 2 minutes an ad interrupts the video. I do have ad block on my computer on Google Chrome, but I don't know how to put adblock on my phone.

The ads on Crunchyroll drive me crazy; last time I used it, they would lag and so would take ten minutes to get through an ad and then they happen in a middle of a scene too. :/

sameee, last time I tried using CR theres were like 5+ in a row. it felt like it took forever to get through them.

Of course ads are annoying, but people gotta pay the bills somehow. The alternative is paying subscription fees to every website you visit. I'm okay with either having ads or subscription fees, but not both at the same time. Double dipping creates a conflict of interest between paying customers and advertisers and just feels like a really slimy business model.

I used to use AdBlock, but it stopped working after a while. I recently switched to a new browser and I haven’t installed any extensions, so I’ve gotten used to ads. I’d rather support the creator.

I dislike ads a lot. I will pay extra to not see them at times. Adblock takes care of a lot for me which I'm grateful for, especially with how it blocks all youtube ads on my computer. I feel like just being a viewer and subscribing/commenting is helping support the creator in a way. I don't need to be watching 10 ads for one video, especially if the point of me watching the specific video is to relax.

I despise ads not only are most intrusive but they are also note safe and loaded with malware/spyware. I got youtube red as soon as it was available so I wouldn't have to deal with ads on content i watch anymore. I use adblockers in browsers and I'll pay extra for ad free experiences on things like Hulu because I just can't stand them.

Many ads can be annoying but I have more of an issue with ads dehumanizing people.
