Posted this on the wrong subforum so I'm gonna repost it in the correct one haha.

I wanted to know how everyone felt about Color Splash.. I'm not sure it's a game that I'll be willing to throw down money for honestly. I'm all for giving games a shot before I make snap judgments, but man.. It just looks like Sticker Star all over again with a little bit more polish. Sticker Star was okay I guess, but it can never even come close to the level that Paper Mario 1 and TTYD were at. It was a one and done game for me. I honestly had to take a break from it after a little while before ultimately finishing it cause it just wasn't at all what I was hoping for. I was just never a fan of the whole sticker thing, bringing life-like things into the mix, the weird battle system, etc. I just wish they would go back to the same formula, or at least a similar one, that they used in TTYD. TTYD is perhaps my favorite game of all time.

So yeah, anyone want to share their opinions/rant/etc.?

The graphics do look really good, but I thought the sticker thing was annoying and I don't want to have to battle like that. It reminds me of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and I don't want to lose a basic attack just because I ran out of a certain item.

I've been keeping up with GameXplain's coverage (for lack of a better word) on the game and it honestly seems like they improved a fair bit over Sticker Star. GameXplain has videos with a number of people who received review copies and it sounds like the writing in the game is really good. That alone makes me want to try it. Another thing that was said more than once was that with Sticker Star the reviewer lost the motivation to finish the game halfway through, but they didn't feel that with Colour Splash. The game kept them wanting to play.

I plan to give it a shot. This is coming from someone whose favourite game of all time is the first Paper Mario. Depending on the release price, I might wait until it gets a price drop though. (Canadian dollar haahhhh)

as of right now it's a nah

I thought there was a sliver of a chance Nintendo would go back to the old formula for the next Paper Mario which I was wondering if there'd even be another paper mario for a while. of course Nintendo **** all over that sliver of hope with color splash

I might watch someone play through some of cs after its released.... maybe that will change my mind

Hmm, that's interesting. I had only seen I think one of GameXplain's videos on Color Splash, but I don't believe it was one that featured a review copy analysis. Maybe I should go check that out and perhaps it'll give me a little bit of hope for this new game. I really want it to be good :( I miss looking forward to new Paper Mario games

Yeah, I know how you feel.. I was sure Nintendo would realize how much of a bad taste Sticker Star left in Paper Mario fans' mouths and fix what could've been fixed fairly easily. I'm doing by best to hold on to that small amount of me that thinks this one might be at least kind of good

Nope. Not going to bother with ut. Appearently haters were signing a petition for Color Splash not to happen. Well I say let it happen, but don't buy it. Let Nintendo learn the hard way... by hurting their wallets. The first 3 are the only Paper Mario games as far as I'm concerned. Super Paper Mario was very different and felt strange at first but it had a great story imo. However, Thousand Year Door will always be #1 :)

EDIT: is the game even put yet? idek lol

Yeah! Thousand Year Door just can't be topped in my opinion. I felt the same way with Super Paper Mario, it was a little weird, but I still love it as a Paper Mario game. It has a great story and that's at least half of what I'm looking for.

I heard about the petition, and you're right, it's probably best for Nintendo to hear it from their wallets, as it seems that they don't listen to their fans no matter how loud they are.

Also, not yet! It's coming out on October 7th I believe

I'm still cheese off that the paper mario system has removed the leveling system, however I can see why they have. Imo it's a series going downhill but I will probably still buy it as i love the series to bits. I just feel the story has gone, the fun of the battles have gone, not much memorable characters now (i'm pretty much just referring to this and sticker star).

What was it about sticker star that annoyed everyone? If they put leveling up in battles it would of made the game 100 TIMES better imo, cos it made battles redundant

Well seeing as Color Splash isnt out here in the UK yet i wouldnt know, but i do have it pre-ordered so i'll decide what i think of it
when i play it.

I'm just bugged by this.

When Nintendo made Sticker Star they were trying something new. People didn't like it. Nintendo should have learned from that mistake and made something more like Thousand Year Door. But they went back with Sticker Star design. I do actually like Sticker Star, but most of the world doesn't. I think it's ok that they made Sticker Star, they thought people would enjoy, but they didn't. SO WHY ARE THEY MAKING COLOR SPLASH!?!?! I remember hearing that the main Mario RPG games would go to the Mario and Luigi series.

But even if the game is the worst game is history, I'm still buying it.

This video in particular with a couple of reviewers was what stuck with me!

And then along with the in-game footage in the video above, this clip of the game has me really excited about the return of the kind of Paper Mario writing that I know and love.

I don't have the console for it, but if I did, I would try it. Super Paper Mario for the Wii was different from the previous Paper Mario, but I still enjoyed it.

I voted for I'll give it a shot a few days ago, but after watching Crunchii's streams, the game looks really good! Definitely getting it now when it releases.

Oh and apparently Zig hacked his system so he could play it now

it's not the gameplay change that annoyed me, it was the lack of a decent story and original characters, which is what made paper mario special compared to all the other mario games. basically ss felt like a typical super mario game with papery graphics slapped on

Keep in mind that Color Splash's development started right after Sticker Star's release, so they didn't know how much people hated that formula. Maybe they'll learn by the 6th game?

Oh wow, all of that actually doesn't look half bad. It definitely does look like a pretty big step above Sticker Star. The story and writing also definitely look pretty interesting. Another thing it has that I'm loving is the animation and style. It's so vibrating and lively

Yeah, that's a good point I suppose :( We'll see! Maybe Color Splash won't be as bad as we're all anticipating anywho

While it doesn't look like to be similar to the first 2 games (which are probably the best ones), it looks very fun. The writing seems good and the game is appealing visually.

I'm looking forward to it! Only a few days left...

Yeah Jet taught me how to do it as well but I screwed up halfway through...
Just going to buy it now :p

I am not interested in the new Paper Mario game to be honest. Ever since I didn't enjoy Sticker Star I stopped getting motivated for Paper Mario. do hope you guys like it though.
