I have liked/loved all Paper Mario except for the last one. Glad to see a new "real" Paper Mario :D

I'm not a fan of a battle style where moves are so limited. Maybe in the end they really aren't it just doesn't "feel" good, if that makes sense. I prefer the FP system.

The reviews are coming. And they all look generally good.

etc etc go find them yourself so I don't have to post them here.

the thing that bothers me about this game is not the lack or partners or the seemingly broken battle system (at least it was in ss), what really bugs me is the infestation of toads and shy guys! these pests were all over sticker star and paper jam, kill them or tone them down please because they are as interesting as a plain cardboard box

other than that, yes I'll buy it and hopefully I'll enjoy it. it does have a charming look to it (when I look past the toads and shy guys of course)

TONS OF TOADS! I think i may be even more sold on it

You are not wrong, almost every plot element seems to involve multitudes of toads or shy guys. I do like the original "villagers" from other paper mario games. Each town had such a bustling diversity.

The digital manual included in Color Splash was probably the most hilarious and interesting game manual I've ever read :D

So I've been playing Color Splash for about 10 hours now, I have defeated 2 bosses so I think I know what the game is like.

I'm bad at writing whole professional reviews so I'm just going to list a few things that came to my attention:

- The goal at the point where I am in the game, is to reclaim all Paint Stars in order to make the colorless spots on Prism Island, colorful again.

- The game is in dutch! I didn't expect it to be but when I turned the game on for the first time I was greeted with a "Druk op start'' title screen instead of ''Press start''! And surprisingly it's a very good translation, most of the jokes are intact and they even made new ones only possible with the dutch language. I could only assume that other translations are similar in that regard so that's a plus!

- The game looks AMAZING! Seriously, e-ve-ry-thing is made out of paper, I know that Sticker Star kind of did that as well but this time you can actually see a papery texture on everything and you can even figure out how most of the paper objects are folded. Making paper crafts based on this game shouldn't be hard :) (actually, I might try that).

- The battle system isn't half bad. It's similar to sticker star in a regard but this time you can decide how powerful you make the card. For weak enemies you can leave it blank to save your paint and for larger and tougher enemies you can paint it all the way to make the attack more powerful. That said, I've never really ran out of paint except for some cases at the beginning of the game, I've fought many enemies which actually has a purpose now. After every battle enemies drop Hammer Points or Hammer Scraps (idk) and if you collect enough of them your maximum paint capacity will increase. What I did actually run out of were Battle Cards, I recommend stocking up on some after basically every level. They are cheap and they'll be very useful. Also Mario himself does not really level up in the game.

Your maximum HP does increase however everytime you recover a Grand Paint Star, it also gives you the ability to defeat enemies without having to actually battle with them. Well... If you get the first strike that is (which is jumping or hitting enemies with your hammer out of battle if you didn't know).

Ah yeah, 'things' are back and they are great :D

- The story is something I can't tell a lot about, which may be a positive for people who don't want spoilers, but it's actually because I'm not that far into the game and the story seems to develop itself as you make progress. For example: whenever you recover one of the Grand Paint Stars, you can see their memories of what happened before you arrived on Prism Island.

So yup I actually like the game, it definitely exceeded my expectations.

I love the whole franchise! Including sticker star! My fav is still Thousand Year door. Heck yeah I'm giving color splash a chance!!! Waiting for Black Friday though because $20 will be too good a price to pass up.

I've never played any paper mario games. My friend loves it though

How is the sidekick of Color Splash? Is he good or not all that good? What does he look like, and what's his name?

Mario's sidekick in Color Splash is named Huey. He's a talking paint can that has a better sense of humor and a bit more personality than Kersti ever will. It's a shame that he doesn't provide any other hint than reminding you what you were supposed to do.

I've played the ones on the N64 and the Wii, and I wasn't super crazy about the latter. I loved the first one, though. I have no desire to play the new ones.

But hey, I love N64 games in general. I don't know why.

Kersti is the main reason why I was turned off by sticker star. Someone on GameFAQs brought up a Navi demonstration, telling us to imagine if she nagged at you for attacking differently or used the Hey Listen warning to say useless information. I also heard how she is a spoiled brat, bully, and has no reedeming qualities. You also couldn't get rid of her, and they tried to make us have sympathy for her when she sacrificed herself. Video games can have bad sidekicks too, but it took this long to finally come up with a really bad sidekick like this. Wow!
