So I had this dilemma in which someone came to my island for a trade, and immediately after they came, someone else i didnt recognize came to the island. I didn't give my code to anyone but that 1 person for the trade.. I asked the mystery person who they were and they were giving vague answers until they just left, luckily I has my entrance blocked.
It didn't seem like the trader knew the mystery person cuz they mystery person was kinda rude to them.
I'm wondering if someone was just randomly searching codes until they found an island open idk it was weird

I've heard of this happening before. Some people seem to spend their time inputting random Dodo codes just to see where they end up. I assume that's why Orville warns you that people you don't know might show up when you say to let anyone in with the code: either someone will input the wrong code by mistake and happen to get yours, or someone will just be trying to go to random islands with random codes just because they think it's fun for whatever reason.

It's actually crazy people have the patience to just try random dodo code combos until they strike gold. Kudos I guess lol but good to know for future sake.

I've read few occurrences that this has happened to a couple people where visitors do pass out the dodo code.

The idea of someone sitting around trying multiple codes till one works is pretty creepy though.

Wow, those people must be really bored. That's really creepy, I didn't know people randomly put in codes

That's what I heard, anyway. I can't confirm it, since it hasn't happened to me. Maybe it happened more often when the game was new and more people were playing.

I can’t imagine having enough time to try random dodo codes until I found one that worked lol. I’m kinda jealous of those people ngl

but for real, that is really strange. I’ve never had that experience before and I hope I never do!

Oh gosh I REALLY don't like when people do that and this is the reason why I stopped trading with others last year. I have a story about this. Okay so I am doing a trade where this person wanted 10 blue roses from me in trade with her 50 Nook Mile Tickets. I come to their island about to plant the flowers but then I see the "Looks like Someone's on their way here" I saw that she had more people coming in than ever before. I messaged them asking why are their so many people coming to their island? They were like "Oh well I gave the code to my friend and I guess he just shared it with others I'm sorry that this happened"

Okay first of all why would you tell your friend about this? When you're doing a trade with someone do not invite others because not only does that makes things slower it also makes it hard when you have to wait on so many loading screens. I know I've ranted about how the online in this game is so bad, but when stuff like this happens its just annoying. Never share your code with anyone else if you are trading with only one person if you are the buyer or the seller. I cannot tell you how many times I had this happened to me that it drove me insane!

Common sense would tell these people not to do that, but I just got annoyed with the seller who allowed their friend to come to the island, I suppose they didn't know how it would make things complicated but they had to learn the hard way after that. The seller apologized and restarted her island and eventually I was able to do the trade right, but this whole thing took like 35 minutes to do it was that painful.

the thought of someone inputting random codes over and over until one works is honestly really scary to me. like, imagine going through the process of connecting to the internet and button mashing your way through orville’s dialogue just to end up on a stranger’s island for who knows what reason. this has thankfully never happened to me nor have i heard of this happening very often but stuff like this makes me thankful that nintendo made it harder to mess up one’s town/island in this game.

Yikes to the thought of someone just sitting there and typing a bunch of random codes to see if they would end up at an island. I haven't had anything like that happen before when a random I don't recognise shows up on my island thankfully.

But I did this trade one time recently with someone on discord, and she asked if her friend could come too. I said no, because there's no reason for her to bring her friend. We were literally just trading some furniture items for bells.
I said no to her friend coming, so she showed up first, then right after her friend also came even though I literally told her not to share the code....
So I was a little harsh, and I just ended the session on both of them. I didn't even end up completing the trade because I was really annoyed at the girl. She didn't apologise either....

There was no way for them to do any damage to my island, because I always block everything off, but that was still rude especially since I had said no .

You do have to be really careful when you open your island to random people with a dodo code. I guess it's just a risk you have to take if you want to do trading.

The visitor has to be sharing it. There are so many possible combinations (30ish*30ish*30ish*30ish*30ish...about 24 million codes) that finding an open island this way is practically impossible, unless there's something I don't know about how Dodo Codes are generated.

You can always use the '-' button to immediately boot everyone from your island if something weird happens.

I'm very skeptical that the person you traded with didn't know the person. I think it's more likely that they probably had a sibling or someone else in their life that saw them input the code and then were mad when they came and tried to pass it off like they didn't know. That's really bad form. I'd be hesitant to trade with that person again in the future. To me, the odds of a random person figuring out the code is so low that I would not believe this person didn't give your code away.

It's a tough spot to be in because on one hand you don't want to accuse someone who may be innocent, but wouldn't want that to happen again. I think the best thing to do would be to not trade again with that individual.

Its also very possible someone instead of sharing the code or randomly trying codes, they made a typo and ended up on your island by mistake.

I've done trades before where I'm not given an island name, just a code, so had to hope I was going to the right place.

I've done trades before where codes I've been given haven't worked at all.

Its really not that far out of the realm of possibility

I wouldnt blame the person you were trading with unless it becomes a habit with them.

After all, even a 1 in a million chance will happen to 1 in a million people. And millions have the game.

ive had that happen to me as well. i stopped it happening by making my islands entrance 100% 'lockable'. i created a 2 square path from the airport up to the town. on either side of the airport where you have one space i put one piece of fence on either side when someone is coming to trade, and at the top of the path where it goes into my town i put two pieces of fence. whoever comes into my town to trade cannot go past the locked path, and they cant wreck anything either.
heres a pic of it

Just so that you aware, anyone in a wetsuit can jump from the airport pier and swim around to avoid obstacles in front of the airport entrance. 😕

Your best bet to avoid intruders, if this happens, is to quickly close your game completely while they are swimming to shore. Hopefully, Nintendo is aware of this backdoor for non-invited guests, and can patch the game so that nobody can dive off the airport pier.

Oh yeah I forgot people can do that. I would suggest blocking off the beaches with fences all around the island so that way they can't sneak into the main entrance.
