Howdy yall! First post in a long time. I have finally decided on my dreamies, and have decided to try to buy their amibo cards instead of waiting for villagers to move so I can trade/hunt for them. I was wondering how others who have bought specific amibo cards have done so, or if there is a specific sellers on ebay or esty that is reliable. I'm a bit of a skeptic of some of the esty shops.

If you have purchased specific amibo cards for villagers, how/ where did you do so, and do you recommend it?

I got my amiibo cards from Amazon and they are kinda expensive if you wanted a whole pack of them with many villagers but I bought when it had Molly in it so it costs me I think it was $40 (in America) but I saw other villagers that looked really good so I bought it. If you were to buy a single amiibo card its usually around $10 yeah its a little pricy since they are rare to find. My suggestion is to go with a villager you really want to get and see how much it costs. Make sure you check the reviews to make sure because sometimes the card they are selling turns out to be damaged.

I have bought real amiibo cards way before new horizons was released to get my favorites in advance. They were all cheap back then but now I can’t justify the price unless you’re wanting to collect them.

Now I buy the amiibo stickers off etsy. It’s just a blank little sticker that works the same way as the cards. Sometimes there are deals for buying multiples but I can find them for 2 dollars a piece usually.

literally i have 212 amiibos and that's only my villager collection lol
i have 36 originals which i got from the shop GAME when they first released and the rest are fake and i have made myself

i just get nfc cards of amazon, i paid £18 for 80 blank cards
however my cousin buys the premade amiibo coins on etsy, which are £2-3 each

I collected all the amiibo cards as they came out back in 2016-2017-ish, so I mainly used ebay to buy my specific amiibo cards! Buying genuine cards was a big deal to me, so that's why I turned to sellers on ebay who were selling them for cheap. As long as your villager isn't super popular, I found most of my cards for $1-$5 from sellers who had lots of positive feedback.

However, if you're not so concerned with your cards being genuine, I'd recommend Etsy shops, especially to find the more popular villagers whose cards might run for upwards of $20 on ebay. Despite being bootleg (I think they're called amiibo chips/amiibo coins), I've heard nothing but good feedback from those who have purchased them. I'd just make sure to look at photo reviews & feedback... I can't recommend any specific shops, but I've purchased mine from several places, and have always received perfectly good cards.

I ordered Amiibo coins on etsy and had a great experience with it. They range from $2-$8 a piece depending on how fancy you want the coin to look (some with clear cases, nice art and confetti cost like $6+ per coin, others that are 3D printed with the picture of the character glued on are like $1-$2 each) and the coins work great. Some Etsy sellers make cards too and they sell for a bit more

I bought amiibo cards on both etsy and amazon. On etsy, I bought a couple of blank amiibo cards that work just as well as the ones with art on them. They are also cheaper. On amazon, you can get multiple for a low price. I got a pack of 20 for 30 dollars (they were the mini ones). I recommend amazon more but if you are looking for specific cards, etsy is better tbh.

I have bought many Amiibo cards and NFC cards on eBay and never have had a bad experience with any seller there.I much prefer eBay over Etsy because eBay will step in and help out if you do come across a disreputable seller. Most of the Amiibo cards on eBay are relatively inexpensive except for the more popular villagers. That's where the NFC cards come in.Most of them don't look like much(usually just a plain white plastic card with the villager's name written in black Sharpie on it)but they are dirt cheap compared to the real thing and they work just the same. Most NFC cards are in the $3-$10(U.S.) range and you can get them for just about any villager that already has an official Nintendo Amiibo card.

Etsy ones are fake a lot of the time. They still work but it's kind of a rip off because you can make them yourself for way less. I have a lot of legitimate amiibo cards that I bought myself back when they were still selling them in store. I also have a few fakes that I bought off Etsy because I don't have an android phone so can't make them myself. And also have a PowerSave amiibo now, which lets me re-write this plastic tag thing into whatever amiibo I want.

Would love it if they re-released the cards. I really want to collect them all.

I bought amiibo coins on etsy! I recommend looking around at sellers and their reviews to get a gauge on quality, pricing, shipping time/cost, and any extras you want. The ones I bought have glitter in them! While they weren’t as cheap as the plain nfc sticker or plastic card kinds, the seller I went with had more affordable products, and she worked with me when I wanted one without the nfc data. (I bought that villager’s nfc sticker earlier.) c:

eBay is great, IMHO. You can always see the feedback of the seller you are purchasing from.

Make sure they're genuine if you want them to retain value. I know Etsy has plenty of counterfeit/fan-made Amiibo.

I completed all the amiibo card sets back in 2015-17 when they first came out. All my cards are authentic, in case it matters. Already mentioned, but ebay is a great. If authenticity is a thing for you, just make sure the seller has genuine cards. Also Idk how comfy you are with trading for real here on the belltree, but the amiibo card trade forum here was a huge help for me when I was trading cards. I got so many series 1 and 4 cards just by trading my dupes with people here.

I bought a few real cards on eBay and some fan made ones on Etsy. The fan made ones are less expensive and I can pick the villagers I want. There are some sellers with very good reviews. Look for ones for which the reviewers posted images. Some people make nice looking fan amiibos and some sell really plain ones.

I recommend eBay. Their buyer protection is great (sometimes a little too great, it's easy for sellers to get ripped off) and you can easily see reviews and request additional photos of the item you want. Etsy was full of bootlegs. eBay has a lot as well, but at least there are SOME genuine cards there. If the listing doesn't specifically say that the cards are authentic, assume otherwise. If the listing mentions coins (this is a bootleg type of Amiibo) or "fanmade" Amiibos, those are also not genuine. I know a lot of people don't care about that stuff, but to some of us, it is super important.

Another thread promoting illegal activity.
Just pointing out that the OP didn’t state they were specifically looking for the homemade copies. They also said they were skeptical about them, as a matter of fact. But yeah, I suppose you do have a good point, that homemade amiibos aren’t really legal ;-;

If you are looking for genuine ones, the best ones are on eBay. You can always get your money back and the ones on Amazon and Etsy are mostly homemade.

No, I know, but every post that followed made some mention of them. Buying homebrew Amiibo coins/stickers/cards is in full support of illegal activity, and it makes no difference if one thinks "scalpers" on eBay charge too much for the officially licensed product.

If one is okay buying or promoting the hacked version, then they're no better than the people on eBay about whom they're complaining.

Hi all! TBT's stance on unofficial amiibo cards is that it is fine to say that you own some, but you cannot share links to where to buy them or guides on how to make them yourself. If you disagree with this please feel free to take it up with our team in Contact the Staff. Please do not derail this thread from the OP's original question. Thank you!
