• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

Place your random thoughts.

Drago holding that "2000" flag on the TBT banner is giving me tons of Spyro vibes. I need to beat the third game yet again; this time the original PS1 version.

I don't care what anyone else says or thinks of me for this, I think sharks are really cute!

The last one looks more friendly.

Funny you should mention sharks. I'm revisiting a manga called Merman in my Tub, and theirs a mer-shark dude named Agari in it.

Look, I’m not one of those people that says SpongeBob becomes bad instantly after the first movie (seasons 4 and 5 especially have a lot of good episodes). But I can agree that Band Geeks is one of the top 5 best episodes of the show, and the ending is the best, most epic, most awesome scene in the entire show. Yes, it’s even better than when Squidward owned that guy from Pizza Delivery. It’s even more epic than the Goofy Goober Rock.

A have an english and german version of the same song on spotify. Spotify never ever wants to play the english one on shuffle.

With the technology Amazon deployed at Whole Foods, a palm reader has two meanings now. 🖐️

I kid you not, Sweet Victory was the last thing in my dream I heard before I woke up today and you had to post the exact same thing today. What a dang coincidence.

I still have a total of 9 warnings posted to my account. The last time I got a warning, whatever I did there wasn’t just the worst thing I did on this site. It was the worst thing I’ve done in my entire life, anywhere (and that’s including all the violent behaviors I done in school before my high school graduation).

Best episode of Regular Show has to be 'California King' due to it being an homage to Labyrinth. Love that movie!

For many years, I denied the existence of white privilege and the fact I have a white privilege. Even when I acknowledge that there’s inequity among all races when it comes to biases, wealth distribution, and crime, I legitimately believed that white privilege isn’t real and that the very idea of white privilege was invented out of jealousy of others and to shame whites for being white (something they have no control of). It also undermines the reason on why they’re doing better than everything else. It’s the choices people make that put them in a different position. You can pull the “white privilege” card on a white student if she got all A’s, no detentions, and perfect attendance, but if she made bad choices, she wouldn’t get all that. You can pull the “white privilege” card on a white person if he has a high-paying job, lives in a nice neighborhood, got no legal troubles, and got a promotion, but if he made bad choices, he wouldn’t get all that. Not only that, but even saying “white privilege” belittles marginalized groups, which is racist. The other problem is that when you bully a certain group into giving what you want, they’ll vote for the wrong people (like Trump or MTG), who will do the opposite of what you want and possibly hurt the nation. And you’ll have nobody but yourself to blame.
It's also causing divisions that were never there in some of our communities right now. I'm white, but of a very underprivileged background. I was actually a minority in every school I went to, because London has always been very multicultural in my lifetime. There wasn't a big divide between the different ethnic communities though, we all just got on with it together and I didn't care about being the only white girl in my friendship groups throughout childhood or adulthood. Since covid and the BLM riots (which I don't believe were necessary in the uk anyway and have caused more harm than good), everyone is more suspicious of each other. We're told we must patronisingly treat some "minorites" as victims (doesn't make sense to call minorities that where I live anyway) whilst ignoring other "minorites" or treating them like villains (Jews right now seem to be getting targetted a lot). Even the police are getting it all confused now. And have apparently forgotten what happens when socialists seek to spread a distrust and hatred of Jews in the name of various causes.

Looking at the demographics for where I live, the ethnic majority is Arab and the predominant religion is Islam. That is despite the uk being a Christian country, but probably due to the fact Muslims tend to have larger families. It was never a problem growing up. Judaism, Christianity and Islam were meant to all worship the same God, just some families had different customs to others due to their culture. We celebrated all the monotheist festivals together like Christmas, Eid and Hannukah. We also had a lot of Indian Hindus and Sikhs and we celebrated Diwali at school, though they sometimes tended clash with the Pakistani Muslims, they were also reaonably close to them culturally. Enough for there to be no huge divisions.

But within the past few months, the police have been telling Christian gospel singers and street preachers that they're not allowed to do this outside, even if it's just singing outside the church, because it's apparently upsetting the Muslim community. Some people will say "Oh but they're minorities and we should be kind" but they're neither minorities globally nor the area of London I live in. It's not unkind to be singing gospel songs or hymns, same as it isn't for Muslims to loudly call for prayer. And guess what colour most of the Christians are here? Black. So which ones are even the actual minority in this case, by their own seemingly left-authoritarian rules?

Last night, I watched the episode the fifth episode of the seventh season of The Simpsons, Lisa the Vegetarian. It was a pretty good episode, but there are some people who dislike it because it foreshadows what Lisa would eventually become. If you didn’t know, Lisa eventually became the most hated Simpson on the show because a lot of later episodes started constantly portraying her as right no matter what she did, like the episode where she gets a restraining order on Bart. Coupled with the fact that she started being used to espouse the writers’ liberal views, and I think you can see why some people to not like her very much, which is pretty much exactly what happened to Brian on Family Guy. This episode has her stop eating meat since she thinks it’s wrong, but everyone around her, like her own family, is eating meat, so naturally, she gets a little upset. Like, when Homer decides to host his own barbecue, Lisa intentionally ruins it. The reason this episode isn’t as bad as those later ones is because:
  1. Lisa isn’t portrayed in the right for forcing others to do what she thinks is right
  2. In the end, while she doesn’t really receive any comeuppance, she does realize that she shouldn’t force her beliefs on others, and so she decides to permanently stay vegetarian, but not hold anything against her family and apologizes to them
Since I’m already on season seven, I’m quickly approaching the seasons where episodes like this become common, so I’ll be able to see whether I still like Lisa for myself.

Pay day is getting closer...I can practically TASTE that new chizza from KFC!😋

After listening to members of Celtic Woman cover both versions of “Ave Maria”, I found them lovely, but was more moved by Chloe Agnew’s pure voice capturing the essence of the Bach/Gounod version. The harp in the background made it feel peaceful and hauntingly beautiful, like a recording of Heaven. As far as the main arrangements of “Ave Maria” go (as I’ve heard multiple versions of each one) here is where I stand:
Bach/Gounod>>>>Schubert

And my take on Laura Branigan songs, since “unpopular opinions” are closed:

“Self Control>>>>”Gloria”
