There's this one episode of the Powerpuff Girls where the Mayor is running for mayor again since nobody ever runs against him, until people suddenly vote for Fuzzy Lumpkins and he becomes the new mayor.

The Mayor didn't care about anything other than getting his hat back lol that episode made me think of the irl election and how funny it would be if the president just cared about his hat 😂

Also there's this other episode in which Princess Morbucks becomes mayor and makes crime legal.

Would she be a better president? 🤔👑✨

Whenever I come across someone online whose pronouns aren't listed anywhere on their bio or socials, part of me wants to ask them what pronouns they go by, but I'm also kinda scared to out of fear of potentially offending them.

School ultimately harmed my enjoyment of reading.

Being told 'what doesn't count as a real book'. Being forced into reading books that I had no interest in. Given reading projects during seasonal breaks.

Apparently less and less children are reading for enjoyment. Of course the 'generational blaming' will happen, but I think something has to change with the curriculum :c

I'm finally starting to enjoy it again. Knowing I can just go pick up a comic and not get yelled at or invalidated.

Book snobs are the worst. A book is a book, I mean...what the heck?! Lol.

I saw kids who had to put school library books back because it didn't meet the required standard. Nothing instills a love of reading more than blocking a child from developing unique interests. /sarcasm.

I'd purpose nudging towards different genres. A kid is only reading graphic novels? How about use elements from that to find a different book they would enjoy instead of invalidating them.

I eventually ended up in a gifted class and any sense of freedom was lost. 'Here's a list of 50 year old classic novels. You have to pick one and do a graded presentation on it'.

If writing is a sense of expression then let kids express themselves by exploring books. Instead of soaking the love out of a hobby and attempting to make each child read the same thing according to a standard.

Sumo news: The now-retired Takakeisho (“Fireball” as I called him) is working security at this tournament and can be seen a few times in the background. Hakuho did the same thing after he retired. Maybe it’s a requirement for newly-retired wrestlers?

This literally happened to me and a school librarian because I was checking out a bunch of manga books at once. Umm…I was reading a series! And then she told me I could read some of these novels that won awards, etc.

Mind you, I could always read ahead of my level, and was writing my own cringey stories at the time. I think she was just promoting certain books, like a salesperson promoting certain items. Weird way to approach your job, though.

That kinda reminds me of my sister and one of her art teachers. She was told that her cartoony drawing isn’t real art. If something can’t be defined as “art” or “book” because it doesn’t follow the strict traditional definition, then that’s not good.

I feel like I want to draw today, but since I'm sick I don't know if I can handle staring at a computer screen. thankfully there are so many other things I can do that don't require a computer, like drawing on paper, sculpting with polymer clay, acrylic painting, plastic canvas stitching. I haven't done the latter in quite a while honestly. but I don't know, I don't feel well at all and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get up and do that. I don't want to force myself. 😔

yeah I can't get myself to enjoy reading because of the forced reading that I had to do in school. I do like to read, as I'll sit and read articles on things that interest me for hours. but reading a book, I just can't do it. it was like a punishment at school. I'm almost feeling the same way about playing piano, which is awful because I love playing piano and am professionally trained. maybe teachers should be more considerate of their students.

One of my friends doesn't wanna read either, due to the same reasons. Can't say I blame him.

Unrelated: Mexican Street Corn-flavored Cheetos are hecking AMAZING! 😋

Twenty full big boys and one mini little guy and I'm pretty much done. No more waiting around, no more annoying bs... It's so liberating 🥹

Just a huge hoard of cranberry funds and... I KNEW IT WAS BROCCOLI!!! 😍🥦

Once this event ends, there’s only one more event, and it’s the Christmas event.

I probably won’t buy presents and send them to other members. After all, my apples are overworked and tired after all the work they did this year. As another user mentioned it, even apples have to relax. 🍎

I found this sock in the basement. It’s a brightly colored striped sock with Hello Kitty on it. I must have been like 3 when I wore it. I wish it fit me nowadays, it’s adorable and so me and would be perfect for a decora coord.

Yeah, I had an art teacher who would snatch and crumble up work that he deemed low effort.

As a child you often don't question these things.

As an adult thinking back, it was unconstructive and not appropriate. (Interestingly I can check staff listings on the school website, and he's still there).

I hope he's changed.

I miss when Alec Baldwin was thicc and didn’t have 7 kids with that lady who pretended to be Spanish. Saw him in a white dress shirt on 30 Rock and…wow!! 😍 For peak Alec though, I would recommend It’s Complicated.
