Pokémon Pokemon Sun and Moon General Discussion

Got a good Wonder Trade chain going. I figure when I get the "cheap" Pokemon I'll just trade them away and keep doing that until I get one I like. Managed to get an Alakazam (not a Kadabra but fully evolved already), Grimer with an egg move, and a Mimikyu. But still no starters... except that one where I traded Rowlet for Rowlet.

Anyone else find some of the music a bit random? I mean its good music, don't get me wrong, but some of the battle themes especially (Tapu fights, UB) have several random mood swings and clashing sequences that don't really stick together. Doesn't have a good harmony.

The more I play the more disappointed I seem to get with this game. As nice as it looks it feels severely rushed in some areas. Lack of clothes, short routes, lack of depth in some storylines, no national Pokedex, lack of legendary/lore Pokemon, rushed music...

I think national pokedex will come soon. With Animal Crossing New Leaf's update there are clearly intentions by Nintendo to add new content to games. "Full games" aren't what they used to be.

So wow, this game really dumbed down on the puzzles huh. I expected some ice sliding, block shifting, and, you know, slightly difficult puzzles. But the only puzzles have really been "move 2 obvious blocks" in some caves and temples.

Anyone else remember in ruby and sapphire when you had to do that bike run across the unstable floor? (In the Sky Pillar). And the Sootopolis gym ice tile puzzle, too.

I remember that. It took me ages to get the timing right on the bike part in the Sky Pillar. I'd always end up letting go too quickly.

Also...you can't use escape ropes in temples, or in several places where I actually would want to use them...so where can they be used, exactly? In the less than 5 caves present throughout the game, perhaps?

I gave a pom-pom Oricorio blackglasses. Because imagining a pom-pom Oricorio with shades on is hilarious. And it'll stay that way until I find an actually useful item for it.

I like the simplicity of the berry finding mechanic, although the randomess is a bit annoying.

The OT and ID No. on that Mimikyu wouldn't happen to be Ryan and 265409? :3

I actually wondered if Drampa, Crabonimable or whatever its called and some other Alolan pokemon had cries or not, they are so quiet that the music completely conceals them.

That only proves how rushed it is tbh. They figure they can just release it now and incorporate key features as DLC? For more money right? I don't mind if a whole new island or a wide range of clothing options comes as DLC but important stuff should actually be put into the game. Next thing Ride Pokemon will be DLC.

And yeah I remember that. There's always some kind of difficult challenge in the games, but I guess now that XY had the "ages 3+" difficulty we'll never have challenging areas again.

I liked the ending though. I just wish there was a Kanto region you could explore post game.

That would be nice but considering Gold and Silver had Kanto it seems kinda weird to include it in yet another game. It would actually make sense here but... kinda overused lol.

I actually disagree with that first part. From my understanding the AC:NL update was free, and half of the content they added in that update didn't even require amiibos in order to play with. As for the National Dex, there is no reason for it to be in the game right now considering that over half of the Pok?mon in the series can only be obtained through transfer... and Pok?Bank hasn't even been updated yet to do those transfers so all it would be is a waste of time and resources that could've been spent elsewhere.

Also, I wouldn't consider the National Dex a more important feature over new islands. New islands would actually add more content to the game such as new side quests, NPCs to fight, and more areas to explore. I would much rather prefer islands as a free DLC than rehashed Pok?Dex entries that we've already read five times before but in different games. Shiny Charm is obtainable by completing the Alolan Dex in these games by the way, so the National Dex isn't even useful for that anymore.

Stupid question, but I've never really chained shinies so I gotta ask it.
If I'm chaining something and I put the ol' 3DS in sleep mode, will that reset/alter the chain I have goin'?

That is true, but then why even allow access to the other Pokemon? Why not just have the Alolan Pokedex and leave it at that? Completing the National Pokedex was a challenge, one that most people filled up in a day thanks to Pokemon Bank. At least if they have it in the game now it will go uncompleted for a while. But still, if the shiny charm and all that comes from completing the Alolan Dex and there's no reward for catching them all, then why bother? Having no National Dex really takes away from the main thing Pokemon is all about.

You can still complete it if you want, there just won't be any rehashed PokeDex entries to read this time around if they don't do it for DLC. People will still complete it even if the Shiny Charm isn't rewarded for their efforts anymore, it's what people have been doing from Gen 1 to Gen 4 and for the same reason why people collect all the Vivillon patterns, shiny colors, and Unown forms; just so they can say that they did it. Allowing access to the other Pok?mon was probably just an after thought to give people an incentive to use the QR scanner; which is pretty much useless outside of the QR teams and Magearna event since you can just read up Pok?mon encounter tables online.

Finally I have caught all the minior in their different color except shiny..... And almost complete pokedex I have 83% done
Mostly the one I'm missing our the friendship but whatever they raise friendship soon
Thought sylveon was easy just give it 2 rainbow food and your good thought I love the eevee high five so adorable

Reminds me that I gotta fix my pokedex in pokebank
To see who are staying and who are gonna move in their respective places....
Wow it's gonna be a mess fixing in this game -.- why do I have to put them in order of number??? (I know I don't have to I just do it automatic) though... Why do I do with extra ub? I don't need them and I'm not a competitor so hey are just waste
Not like all the form of minoir or all the color of flabebe (I have all the colors and all the evolution with the color) and the vivillon patter and the 4 different looking ocirico

The extra UB are good trade fodder. You never know when someone has something you want, and they happen to have a different version of the game.

You need pokemon bank, which doesn't work with sun and moon until early next year.

Man the map is absolute garbage in this game, sorry. It's blurry and pixelated and it doesn't list all the landmarks. Each time I have to find a cave or entrance it becomes impossible to navigate. The map design is several steps in the wrong direction.

Well thought I have 3 extra I could ask for hard one like
Garchomp, dragonite and flygon which are some of the hardest to evolve

You probably want to focus on the version exclusive UB first. Buzzwole and Kartana are Sun exclusive, Pheromosa and Celesteela are Moon exclusive.

Is it just me or does the (regular) poison status do way more damage now?
