Pokémon Pokemon Sun and Moon General Discussion

Idk if it was official but I hear Litten's final evolution may be based on a HEEL wrestler, a wrestler who is hated and fights dirty. Dark types are known for having dirty fighting moves

Popplio and it's evolution are still 10000% the best!!!

But really I'm super impressed at the Pokemon designs so far. Usually when they're releasing new ones I look at them and just kind of think 'meh', but they're really standing out to me this time.

Also I love the music at the start of that English language teaser omg

Dartrix looks like he's about to start Fall Out Boy

Wait edit I take that back, after watching him in motion he definitely looks like a Chad

After reading the website Dartrix is basically a sulky, messy teenage emo. >.<

The design is just anticlimactic.

Brionne(?) is adorable. Looking at its name origin suggests to me that this time the gender ratio for this starter may be even or 87.5% female and 12.5% male, as opposed to the usual gender ratio for starters. (Which is dumb)

Torracat looks great, the hind legs suggest it will adapt to standing up, which sucks.

Glad the festival plaza is back!

I love the idea of the whole Isle Aphun and the other one(s) looks like a very interesting mechanic to the games.

Ash-Greninja= Why?

Apparently there's a new item called the "Ice stone" which is essentially a new evolutionary stone for Alolan Vulpix and possibly even Eevee into Glaceon and Alolan Sandshrew into Alolan Sandslash.

Yeah, the Ash-Greninja is a hit and miss. The design is cool but the name... -shudders-

I just really want the end leaked evolutions to be wrong. They all suck imo... I had high hopes for Litten but the atrocious monstrosity wrestler thing is supremely dumb and four legs would be so much better! I like the torracat too, its the best out of the three. I think the owl, archer thing will be cool, but I think its trying to hard to be new. I don't want my pokemon human-like. And from wants seen in those leaks right now, it looks super clunky execution.

Brionne is a no

Do you guys think there will be newmega evolutions?
I don't think there will because they would have revealed the z ring thing or whatever its called is capable of mega evolving pokemon sooner

I'm guessing Brionne is related to brine, and maybe lion (as in sea lion -> seal).

Where does Torracat originate from though?

I cheated and went on Bulbapedia. :L

Torracat may be a combination of torrid (very hot and dry) and cat. It may also involve 虎 tora, Japanese for tiger.
Nyahīto may be a combination of ニャー nyā (meow), 火 hi (fire), and heat.

Would Undine not make more sense?

Brio (style/performance- relates to circus or it pretending to be something its not) + Undine (Water Nymph, Mermaid.) = Brionne

I'm thinking it may evolve into a mermaid and a siren depending on the version.
If the split evolution rumours are true. c:

I don't see a "-dine" link to Brionne so I'm not sure undine is the root. Brio makes perfect sense though.

From discussion on bulbapedia the French word "lionne" refers to a female lion, which is a better approach than my thought of just "lion".

Yeah, that's better.

I'm waiting for new Megas too and tbh I am surprised we haven't gotten any yet. Maybe the Z moves are supposed to "replace" them for this region? I dunno I'm confused.

thoughts: honestly, like truly honestly, brionne doesn't look that cool. none of them really do, i'll probably end up going with popplio at the end, but not too excited for starters.

Honestly I don't have a problem with Brionne when I play Pokemon my team is usually all male so having a Brionne will even out my team the only thing I have a problem with is the gender ratio I really ope they change it with Brionne and I will have it apart of my team!

the reason the middle stage evolutions look weird is because they're the puberty stage lol
