Since I have 2 switches I mostly played the docked version (the one with red and blue joy cons) on TV most of the time only if the power goess off or if I have to do go somewhere I do play in handheld. The 2nd Switch is a Lite version which is my most go to switch for handheld gaming.

I play ACNH and basically all games on handheld. It's just so cozy playing in bed, under the covers! There have been games I've played docked such as Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, and Dragon Quest Builders 2. But then I transitioned to pretty much only handheld while playing DQB2 because it was just better for me to build my island in handheld while I would watch youtube or streams on twitch. After that, I only ever played on docked mode whenever I would stream myself (since you can't stream while playing handheld unfortunately).

After I stopped streaming on twitch, I basically never touched docked mode again. Sometimes I would try it just to see my ACNH island on the big screen, but I never found it cozy so I would quickly take it off the dock lol.

Now the only time I actually play it docked is when I play co-op games with my boyfriend. No way do I want to play two player games on a tiny little screen haha. We've been playing Guacamelee together on Switch and it's great docked! It's very rare though that we play games together on Switch.

I've got bad hand/wrist pain right now and the Switch in handheld is too heavy for me, so I usually dock it! I can't play too much because the controller starts to get heavy as well but definitely docked more often than not.

I mostly play handheld because it’s just easier for me. But for the rare times I do play it on the dock, I love how great it looks and being able to see it on the big screen!

Handheld for life! I play on my Switch Lite and love it.

I have an OG Switch, but it stopped recognizing the joy-cons when they were attached, and since I ONLY played in handheld... that was an issue (and, seriously, the amount of people I tried to explain the problem to who were like "get a pro controller" was infuriating 😒). So, I was over the moon when Lites were announced and bought one on release day. I still use it exclusively.

TBH, I just have never understood the appeal of playing games on my TV. Just... why? I mean, things can look shinier and bigger and stuff. But it's so much less convenient, you can't watch TV while playing, you can't take the game with you... I could understand if, say, you have trouble seeing and the increased size makes the game easier to play, or for other medical issues I can't think of. But otherwise I don't get the appeal. You can only play in limited circumstances and it feels like the main reason is novelty factor (FYI, I have the same feelings about real Christmas trees- needles, bugs, and not being able to reuse it? not worth it for the novelty factor) But the amount of articles I saw GUSHING over playing Pokemon on the big screen, and the amount of people who don't even seem to comprehend playing in handheld mode (and thus recommend pro controllers despite me being clear I ONLY play handheld) makes me feel like this is, apparently, an unpopular opinion (though this poll is making me feel better, lol).

Though to be clear- I don't judge people who play in dock mode. Everyone should play how they prefer! I just always feel the need to defend myself for playing in handheld mode, since I've had to defend myself in conversations about it before 😛

Handheld most the time. I do like playing docked for either my monitor or TV.
The big screen is really nice for other games like Monster Hunter, Mario Kart, Mario Party and just Mario games in general. Oh and those exercise type games.
I do prefer feeling comfy on my bed to play handheld or when I want to multitask at my computer. Even when I play handheld, I always use my pro controller because it feels more natural to hold.

Mostly handheld. Sometimes if I'm playing and my battery if dying then I'll dock it and continue but it's rare.

When I was a kid I preferred handhelds because for the most part we'd hook up the video game consoles to the main TV everyone used so I had to share it. But now even though I have the choice the Switch screen is so big anyways that I don't have much need to dock it.

About 60/40 docked vs handheld. Depends on if I want to watch things in the background or if my wife wants to use the tv ect. Quick sessions are almost always handheld. I only like doing long terraforming with the pro controller because it's lighter than handheld and is less prone to developing drift issues.

I mostly play it docked because I love seeing everything on the big screen! Things just look better imo. Lol but I have played handheld as well and it's fine when the TV is taken.

I discovered just last week that my monitor can actually be used as a "TV" for my Switch, so I've been playing docked for the first time since getting my Switch. I have my second monitor for guides/trades. It's a real game changer! I didn't realize how detailed the graphics were until seeing them on a much larger screen.

I do not play anymore, but I played on handheld. I had a Switch Lite, so that was the only option. Honestly, I prefer handhelds in general. They can be taken with you, and they are, most of the times, cheaper. Unfortunately, the main games I play are meant for consoles.

The Switch is always docked and connected to a second monitor and I play AC with a pro controller. (The main monitor is for playing games on my PC.) I like playing games on a bigger screen. Everything looks better on a bigger screen. Or maybe it's just because I have elderly eyes. 🤪

Handheld. It's just more convenient. I have played it on the tv before and it's nicer with the bigger screen but I'm stuck to one location.

Docked the majority of time. The only time I play handheld normally is when I can't sleep - I'll take the console up with me.

The main reason I prefer docked is because of the battery life. I just cannot stand it when I'm warned of a low battery life. Maybe I play games for too long, but I don't think the battery life is that great on them.

I prefer handheld because I like to be near my computer where I look up guides, use my google drive ACNH "notebook", etc.
What's your preference?

I got 2 monitors on my desk. When I want to play on my Switch, I move the HDMI-In on my capture card from the PC to the Switch. Takes a few seconds. This leaves me with 1 Screen to the Switch, and 1 screen still functional for the PC. So I can use both simultaneously at my desk.

almost always docked for me, I've got it run to my second monitor so I can use the other with the computer while I play, the only downside is it means I must use headphones if I need/want to hear it. Not a huge deal, as I live in my various headphones, but I can't have computer audio AND Switch audio because the cable is just into the monitor, not the computer itself. One day I'll get an Elgato. XD
