I'm not exactly in love of the way Kpop is set up. It's totally opposite of what it really should be. Basically if you're good looking, in the kpop world that's good enough. You don't necessarily have to sing well, or at all; if your face is okay, you can kinda/sorta dance, and your company advertises well enough, you're all set. People complain about how popular American music is lacking substance, but if you look at South Korea, it's like 1000x worse. Every year there's a cookie-cutter boy or girl group coming out, making the exact same music as the ones before them. The people who actually make an attempt of writing and producing records with meaning get pushed off to the side, while big-company drones sweep up all the rewards. And this is from a former avid fan.
