Prom Night

So, prom was held for juniors and seniors in high school (2015 and 2016 for me). I didn't go either years. While I did have friends in school, I was a bit of a loner/introverted, so it wasn't in my best interest to hang out with a a bunch of people I barely knew.

I went but I didn't really care for it. I just went with my friend for something to do.

For some MAD reason, my school had two proms. And I never went to any of them XD
I was extremely shy, and limited myself to a very small few friends at the time. And was bullied, so I didn't see the need to go to a room full of my year that I didn't like.

The first one was just in the hall at secondary school, the other was on a boat of all things.

I wish they kinda updated proms, make it more fun for all sorts of people, not just dancing? Aparanetly proms are used to celebrate achivements throughout the year and celebrate the end of that year or something.
They should make proms so random with random stuff to do, so its actually something people would remember. Gawd, I kinda wish I knew what songs they used just for nostaglia sake.

I never went to prom and felt bad about it, only because I didn't have friends at the time and it made me feel less normal. I probably would have gone if I had had a friend group.

Now I couldn't care less. I'm glad I didn't waste the money and I've done far more fun and entertaining things since then.

i didn't go to prom back in high school because i honestly just didn't feel like going. i didn't really have a good time in high school so i knew i wouldn't have any fun there and would rather stay at home doing whatever i felt like. i have no regrets at all nor have i even thought about it up until seeing this thread lol

So I actually decided to go super last minute. It was actually the first dance I had ever been to. I never attended any of the other school events until this one. I honestly only went just to see what it was like and to not have any regrets looking back. It was alright, I went with a group of my friends because I was in a little ldr at the time. Was pretty chill, I'm happy I went and at least had that experience.

I've never been to prom : ( my mental health was in the bin

closest thing after that was uni grad - but that was during covid so that didn't happen either LOL otherwise i'd like to think i was feeling okay enough to go...

mayb this is why i always dress up now irl, sometimes ott for occasions - making up for lost time !

I went to my junior prom! Aaaaand I passed out in the middle of the dance floor! The attention I got the following school day was so embarrassing to me 😭 I didn't think I would pass out. But I was so overheated from all the people and couldn't get out of the dance circle in time.

My senior prom, I was so ticked about. I had a choice to either go to prom, or go to a convention with my sister. My senior prom was on a BOAT. I had never been to a con before, though. So, I chose the con (like an idiot), and my sister backed out last minute, I don't remember why; and it was too late for me to get a prom ticket. Soooo, yeah. I missed out on a once in a lifetime prom thing, all because I would have rather went to a convention. Silly me. :^/

I thought I was the only one.... I didn't go to my prom either, most of my friends were not in the same year and the date was the same as the national holyday, so I preferred to go to see the fireworks and concert with my friends instead. The prom was not cheap either, we had to pay for a dinner at a hotel, (the menu was not that special), pay for fancy clothes and some were bringing their parents as well...
It didn't look fun. I don't dance either.

I also missed the second prom, it looked funnier because less fancy and they were doing challenges with toilet paper and silly stuff, but I was way too busy with homeworks and exams. I didn't even time to sleep or eat, so no time for partying.

I didn't go to mine either! I had went to homecoming and that was enough for me. I think my friends and I just hung out together somewhere else that night instead

the prom equivalent i wouldve had in my country was cancelled bc of covid. its funny cause im sure i dreamt of going there when i was 10 but at 17 at the time i didnt care to go anyway, so it wasnt a loss for me. nowadays theres not a whole lot of excuses to wear pretty dresses so if it were me now making the choice, i might've gone.

Didnt go to prom, dances arent really my thing and felt too expensive for me to wanna go, i think i maybe could’ve enjoyed it but eh. Instead i invited my friend out to eat, and then with another group of friends who went to prom went to lazer tag after which was super fun. They wanted to go in dresses i think but ended up changing cuz it was too hard to move lol

I was able to attend my Junior prom, but opted out because I was playing videogames. I don't recall what I was playing exactly, and also, my boyfriend at the time had 0 interest in dances and events that required dressing up, so I just followed his example.

For Senior prom, I went stag (a slang I learned that meant showing up to a social event without a companion). I decided to get really fancy and essentially cosplay a bit with a fancy gown and some fun makeup with sticky jewels in my hair and on my forehead. I wish I could dig up the photos, but I enjoyed my time with friends.

I did, however, stink of Korean BBQ because we chose to eat there before the event, assuming that it wouldn't be busy on prom night. It was tasty!

Yes I went to prom. Pretty typical honestly. Limo/predrinks, prom, hotel party. Dunno if this is the same at other high schools, but we essentially had 2 ‘proms’ per year, called the spring/winter formals and anybody could go. The only difference with the senior prom was that you had to be a senior to attend or be the date of a senior…and I guess it had a little more money put into it than the formals.
