Ranking the Events from 2020 from BEST to WORST

I'm gonna have to group them than number

Best
These were the most fun and really great with friends. I liked the items and the celebration.
New Year's Eve
Halloween
Firework festival
Turkey Day

Okay
They weren't great but weren't bad. The items make them "safe".
Toy Day
Wedding Season

Needs work
The concepts were cute but these were too simplified where the repetition and length became annoying. I don't know if Earth Day should even be in the mix?
Museum Day
Bunny Day
Earth Day
May Day

My Birthday was so cute. I loved it.
Fireworks. This has always been one of my favorites.
Turkey day. The new furniture is beautiful.
Toy day. I love the music and lighted trees. The toys leading up to it are so fun.
Halloween. Love the new spooky items.
Wedding. Loved seeing Reese and Cyrus again. The furniture is so pretty too.
Bunny day. I actually liked it. The furniture was new and improved too.
May day. Kind of boring, and wish we could customize the suitcase.
Museum day. Also boring, but nice to have a new event, even if it's small.
Earth day. It was nice getting bushes and roses. That's about it.

1. NYE/Firework Festival
I usually spend New Years Eve alone in real life because i'm home from university and my parents go to bed early, so my villagers being so excited to celebrate with me warmed my heart. AND THE COUNTDOWN with the glow sticks and and the yay, I literally cried. I also love the fireworks in the sky (winter and summer), it makes me really feel the holiday spirit!

2. Turkey Day
I hadn't played in forever, but on Thanksgiving I played animal crossing for hours, I loved making the recipes and all the villagers were so excited to eat! While finding the ingredients was kinda weird it was a nice challenge. Took a food nap right after too.

3. Halloween
I love Halloween in real life, and I loved all the recipes for Halloween as well as decorating. I loved my villagers spooking me too, twas fun!

4. Toy Day
It was fun and festive, but I wish I could have gotten more DIYs ahead of time cuz I had like no decor. I also miss in New Leaf when we had to figure out what everyone wanted for Christmas, it felt more personal. But I loved giving my villager specialized gifts!

5. May Day
I screwed up in the maze so that was embarrassing lol, but seeing Rover made me nostalgic :')

6. Earth Day
This event reminded me to plant stuff more, but I did not stick with that habit unfortunately. Anyway Leif is my fave!

7. Wedding Season
I only did one of weddings cuz I was lazy, but it was cute. Reminded me of the happy home game, which I had on the 3Ds and adored.

8. Stamp Rally

This was cool! I liked exploring the museum!

9. Bunny Day
This day was evil, getting all those eggs made me want to stop playing every time I found one. Hope Nintendo learned to not make that mistake again urrrrrgggrgrgrgrggrhhh

Fun
New Year’s Countdown
Turkey Day
Halloween
Birthday
Firework’s festival

Alright
May Day
Wedding Season (fun event, but going there everyday for a month is too much)
Toy Day (fun, but could have been more to do)

Could be better
Earth Day
Stamp Day (nothing much to do)
Bunny Day (way too long, most of the furniture wasn’t nice)

1. Halloween
Cute DIYs and growing pumpkins as a fun new way to participate in a festival. Was not a hassle day of.
2. Toy Day
I liked the day-of items and passing out presents in Santa clothes. Not a good one for people who didn't have most of the festive DIYs.
3. Turkey Day
I found fishing for this one annoying, but the set was solid and I enjoyed seeing what each new dish would look like. Still disappointed that it didn't include new food items.
4. Bunny Day
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think this was a good event. I think that for people who were not grinding at the time, the flaws in this event were much more forgivable. I took this event slow, and while it did still outlast it's welcome by a few days, I thought that several items were great (I love the hat and the dress) and I had fun. Though I am still bitter that I missed the basket, because I didn't realize it existed.
5. Fireworks / New Years
Designing fireworks was cool and I have always liked the New Year's hats.
6. Stamp Rally
If I didn't hate the prizes, this would be my favorite. I found getting to read about each area really meaningful.
7. Wedding Season
I hated decorating over and over again. Never finished this event--which is uncharacteristic for me--because I found it tedious and it made playing the game a chore for me. I took a break from the game after this one.
8. Earth Day
I forgot this one existed, but I use the hedge fence all the time!
9. May Day
Time-consuming with a reward that I will never use. The solution was obvious at a glance, so I was never able to enjoy the maze or puzzle aspects. Maybe my experience programming games makes this sort of thing too transparent? Dunno. It made me miss the days when Isabelle would hand out event items in the town square when you talked to her during minor holidays like this.

I'm just gonna rank the ones I took part in. didn't get NH until way after Bunny Day and I know there are many horror stories about it but I liked the DIYs and I love Zipper T. so I think it's only fair I leave it out for now.
from best to worst in my opinion:
1. my birthday
2. Turkey Day
3. Toy Day
4. Halloween
5. Wedding Season
6. Fireworks

From my subjective tastes:

1. Halloween: It feels like you participate more in the event. The animals are more involved and the trick or treating makes it really fun. The furniture is nice and you have a lot of opportunities to get them. Also, no balloons. Thats always a plus.

2. Turkey Day: Again, you participate and are engaged enough in the event. I was pretty sad about the lack of food furniture and the fact that ingredients were common enough to complete it in a few minutes but at least there were no balloons involved heh.

3. May Day: Its only one day. Not even significant for me to understand why that event is more fun than other events. Yes, its a giant maze but I thought it was creative and innovative. Something that needs to happen more.

4. Toy Day: You deliver the presents. Thats it. All those gift toys at Nooks was for the "exchange" after the gift giving. I did like how the animals exchange gifts were different variations but still..
most of the festive DIYs were from balloons..

5. Wedding Season: Going to Harvs every day got a little boring after awhile. The furniture was interesting but became tedious for me with the heart crystal currency.

6. Birthday: Everyone likes their birthday..except for the fact that you get one birthday furniture no matter if you TT back to it. This year will be different for me and my 5 other player characters hehehe

7. Bunny Day: I love democracy. Everyone seems to agree that the Bunny Day madness was the worst. Eggs everywhere...its getting closer people...I think I might get flashbacks the closer it gets.

1. Turkey Day - some people disliked it but for me, running around to get all the ingredients was fun, talking to the villagers at their homes, and I appreciated that it was a little long. All the villagers around the plaza was a cute touch, also finding out the secret ingredients
2. Halloween - I'm not a halloween person irl, and I don't like to decorate for it, so I'll probably never use the DIYs, but the event was fun to complete
3. May Day - the maze was a really good idea, fun to complete, I wish we had more stuff like that. I liked the suitcase as well
4. Fireworks Festival - it was cool mainly because of the "parties" people hosted here
5. Toy Day - too fast... Also why do they give us a bunch of toys we already had access to at nooks? A little disappointed but I love Christmas so exchanging gifts will always be cool.
6. Stamp Rally - only fun one time, nothing too special
7. Wedding Season - for me it got boring real fast

I didn't do Bunny Day this year and I'll wait for the next one to see what all the fuss is about, or Earth Day. New Year's I'll try tomorrow and report back
So I did new years, it's fun and cute but there's not much to it. So I guess I would rank it right after toy day

I want to read the thread, but I also want my opinion to be uninfluenced by the thread, so I'll play along! Here is my ranking from least interesting to do to most interesting to do

I enjoyed all of the events. I'm not the biggest on the fireworks festival and because I didn't really play much in August I didn't get to see the fireworks. I think I saw them one time, but they just really flew under my radar this year.

I really enjoyed May Day! It was so interesting to do an adventure on an island tour. I wish it was a random map every time you went and that we could go multiple times. I also really enjoyed the stamp rally, but I just found the Wedding Season much more fun to do. I just wish it lasted maybe two weeks instead of a whole month and that they handed out more heart crystals for the rewards. A month was just a bit too long.

Unpopular opinion, but I think Bunny Day was the most fleshed out event so far and it is my number one. I enjoyed the egg hunting & actually appreciate it made me work for my reward. It really helped me
a lot in getting the golden slingshot as well by shooting all those sky eggs from the air.

Turkey Day comes in second, also because the effort involved and it has my favorite DIYs/items from any event I think.

6. Birthday: Everyone likes their birthday..except for the fact that you get one birthday furniture no matter if you TT back to it. This year will be different for me and my 5 other player characters hehehe

I might have totally misunderstood you but just in case you weren’t aware, you can get the whole birthday set by giving out the cupcakes you get from hitting the piñata to the villagers that didn’t attend your birthday. They will give birthday furniture in return (though apparently they can give random furniture too).

Wait, really!? I had no idea... Is it hinted at in the dialogue at all?

I get why people didn't enjoy bunny week much, but you have to realise that it's because y'all were sat at home doing nothing but playing Animal Crossing. If you were working 8 hours a day, then Bunny Week was probably one of the best events because the DIYs were easy to get, resources were easy to get and it lasted a long time, so you didn't have to log in and complete it all in one day.
Now this year they'll probably nerf it to high heavens and those of us who work full time will probably really stuggle to complete it.

I didn't know about giving the cupcakes...but now that I am aware that they could give random furniture I am glad I have 5 more chances.

although i didn't even have a switch at the time, i feel like i have to agree with op as it seemed like the halloween updated added the most new stuff compared to other seasonal events.. or maybe it's my bias towards halloween being one of the best holidays 😅

I wasn't able to start playing the game until mid-May since I didn't have a Switch yet, so I missed Bunny Day, May Day, and Earth Day. Doesn't seem like I missed much though based on what I read.

1. Halloween: I love Halloween, but wasn't able to do anything this year due to the pandemic. I like the costumes, the spooky set, and the idea of giving and getting candy from villagers. The "tricks" when your face got messed up if you refused to give candy was also funny and adorable. I actually went back again and played it twice because of how much fun it was.
2. Birthday: I really loves how they do birthdays in the game, and this one didn't disappoint. I love the cute little party, and I love how you can share cupcakes with your favorite villagers. I also love the cute little messages that show up when K.K. Slider performs for you. I woke up feeling down on my birthday, but this made me smile. I'm just sad I wasn't able to collect the whole birthday set.
3. Turkey Day: I actually enjoyed getting all the ingredients and helping out my villagers who were cooking. The Turkey Day set is eh, but the event itself was fun.
4. New Years Eve: I actually really liked the New Years Countdown, and after midnight. It was so much fun to take pictures with the villagers, do toasts and do the party poppers. The fireworks were also a nice addition. I also really love the 2021 items and the New Years hats. I just wish all of your villagers could be there instead of having three be at home.
5. Fireworks Festival: This was a lot of fun, especially seeing custom designs as fireworks and the items you get from Redd. It's also cute how excited your villagers are about it.
6. Wedding Season: It was cute, especially getting to see Reese and Cyrus again. The items were also cute. I never completed though because it became tedious and repetitive.
7. Toy Doy: The winter update itself was great, and I love the festive items and toys, but the holiday was just underwhelming. I wish you could at least see what gifts your villagers get, and that the gifts they gave back weren't the toys we already spent all month collecting.
8. Stamp Rally: Pretty boring and pointless.

1. Turkey Day
2. May Day
3. Halloween
4. Toy Day
5. Earth Day
6. Wedding Season
7. Fireworks Festival
8. New Year's Countdown
9. Stamp Rally
10. Bunny Day

Alright: Bunny Day, Harvest Festival (only because of the items), Halloween (only because of the items & new DIY-gathering implementation)
Bad: Fireworks Festival, NYE, Toy Day, Wedding Season (not outrageously bad only because of the items)
Outrageously Bad: May Day, Stamp Rally, Earth Day

Wait, I forgot the Birthday event... that one also gets a bad because it has zero implementation for double birthdays, which means that I won't even be able to celebrate together with my most favorite villager that I share a birthday with

1. Halloween
2. Wedding
3. Fireworks
4. New years
5. Turkey day
6. Earth day
7. Toy day
8. May day
9. Museum Day
10. Bunny day

1. Countdown: This is the one event I think they did better than New Leaf. It wasn't anything fancy, and it didn't need to be. I loved the orderable items and the cute glowsticks, plus there was no stress of collecting DIY items. I really enjoyed it.

2. Turkey Day: I loved how involved the event was, and it actually felt like I was working to accomplish something. The vibe was great and the little cutscenes, while pretty repetitive, were adorable.

3. Wedding Season: Designing rooms and collecting the fancy little items is fun and easy. I appreciated how the DIYs were guaranteed and not random.

4. Fireworks: Pretty solid event, but I'm partial to New Leaf's take on the fireworks. This was another creative event, though, and it was fun to see everyone's custom fireworks online. They butchered the soundtrack, though. It was pretty sad listening to the NH version rather than the happy, upbeat NL one.

5. Halloween: My unpopular opinion is that New Horizons did this event so wrong. So darn wrong. The trick or treating was so vanilla and boring, and there was no fun "risk" associated with it like in NL. There were no minigames, no running around to find Jack after he disappeared into thin air, and no determining villagers' fears to scare them in their homes. New Horizons watered it down so badly, and it was a big disappointment. However, the furniture set was great, so I'll give it points for that!

6. Toy Day: Also butchered by New Horizons. I missed collecting hints from the villagers throughout December and giving them actual, specific items. This one took me no time at all and, in my opinion, wasn't too memorable. On the flip side, the Toy Day toys were adorable, as were the DIYs associated. Doing gift exchanges with villagers was pretty fun.

7. May Day: The maze stressed me out, haha, but overall it was an enjoyable experience. Not much to it, but seeing Rover was a treat. His suitcase is one of my favorite items in the game.

8. International Museum Day: The plaques were cool, but overall not much to it.

9. Nature Day: I barely remember this one, ngl. But it was okay. Also not super memorable.

10. Bunny Day: Pain.
