SIGN-UPS FOR THIS ROLE-PLAY ARE CLOSED!
Based on the Portal video game series, Rat Room takes place at the same time as the Tower of Life role-play, and is set in a human testing facility governed by a hostile artificial intelligence called GLaDOS.
GLaDOS has discovered a "human vault" full of human test subjects put into a deep sleep since the vintage era, and is ready to awaken them for testing, but the facility's functions have been damaged following a certain test subject's brief encounter, and the vault has subsequently opened on its own, freeing all of the humans before GLaDOS could get to them. The humans must find a way to escape and avoid capture at all costs, but only one will survive in the end.

Participation in the role-play rewards you with 10 TBT Bells, but you only receive them at the end of the game (to ensure your intent to actually play).
The winner gets 600 TBT Bells as a reward!

There are a total of five rounds in one single game. The length of each round depends on the progression of the plot, though if things are speedy a round can last as short as a day.
Due to the importance of character development in this game, unlike in the Tower of Life, character reference sheets are required for all players.
Winning the game is done by escaping, but only one person can escape in the end! This requires you to be extremely thoughtful about your actions. You could turn out to be a traitor, and lead your fellow humans to a path of destruction, or you could remain faithful. Or, if you like, you could roam free and explore on your own.
GLaDOS (played by myself) is the only thing you have to be wary of, aside from the intentions of your fellow humans. GLaDOS will do all she can to stop you, from sealing off certain locations to deploying sentries and toxic gasses into them. GLaDOS will also announce the start and beginning of each round, and announce player deaths and other such important information.
The game is free from progressive restrictions, other than going against the obvious limitations such as escaping as soon as the game begins or permanently defeating GLaDOS. This means you can do as much or as little as you want in the story, and it won't necessarily be against the format of the game itself.
The progression of this role-play has a significant impact on the progression of the Tower of Life role-play, as they both take place in the same universe and will be running at the same time. Being knowledgeable of them both is not necessary and is only recommended for players who want to have a more in-depth understanding of the game's plot. This will not effect who wins or who loses.

There are no weapons in this game. Your most powerful weapon is your mind, and survival is your primary concern. Your main method of defense is planning ahead of time. The facility is full of different sectors, switches, and machinery you can use to your advantage, performing similar actions to GLaDOS in order to progress.
Role-play fight sequences are operated by a "one shot per post" rule, which means nobody can take advantage of another player by shooting repeatedly in a single post. In this case, it would be "one action per post", relating to anything that majorly impacts the game, such as deactivating GLaDOS or disabling toxic gasses.
Though GLaDOS is pretty much immortal (and escaping her is all you can really do), you can temporarily disable her for the remainder of any round by finding "Boltlock" switches. The locations and accessibility of these switches will be featured on a map of the facility which will be posted when the game begins. This map will be updated for every round, showing you where the Boltlock switches are. Players are not able to kill themselves or directly kill other players.

At the start of every post, you must put the name of your current location so everyone knows where you are and what part of the game you are in. Here are all the locations accessible in the game (subject to progression of the game):
The human vault is where all players start. They have awoken after many years of deep sleep, and are ready to depart.
These tunnels lead out of the human vault and to the escape route, which is where you can progress to all other areas of the facility.
From here, you can make it to all other sectors of the facility. Due to how large the facility is, all areas you go to which do not have a name can just be considered the escape route.
The toxic gas generator (formally known as the neurotoxin generator) is where GLaDOS gets her toxic gas from. Disable this, and for the rest of the game she will be unable to use gas to kill or trap you.
GLaDOS' chamber is a completely optional place to go to, but traitors will encourage you to go here (or guide you here without you noticing) so that she can eliminate you from the game.
Success! You have escaped and won the game! This area is only accessible once all other players have died.

Don't go OOC. You can contact me privately if you wish to leave or have any questions.
Good grammar, punctuation, and spelling is a necessity, but I'm not super strict about it. As long as people can understand you, you're good.
Don't use emoticons in your posts.
Don't go against the rules of the game. If your character dies, they are dead and can't come back to life. Deaths of the previous round are officially announced at the start of each round.
Character relationships are allowed, but please discuss it with those involved beforehand.

If you are interested in participating, simply post here and say so. Once we have a minimum of four players, GLaDOS' first transmission (and the map of the facility) will be posted and the game will begin.
