Reasons NOT to buy a digital copy?

Digital for me. It's the easiest way for me to have the game on two systems without having to buy a second copy.

because I want to be able to hold the cart in my hand and then cry

Easier to get discounts on physical games. I'm only paying $35 thanks to my Best Buy discounts. Digital games rarely get good sales....well at least with Nintendo.

Plus, if you get a lot of digital games there's a hidden cost - microSD cards

I recently got my fiance interested in the series, so we will be lucky enough to be getting one digital and one physical copy.

I usually prefer physical just because I like to be able to have them in my collection. Something tangible to look at and hold.

That being said, I was leaning towards digital this time, mostly so I can play it at 9pm on the 19th. I'm very impatient, lol. Not having to put in the cartridge will be nice too, but even if I was using a physical copy, I'd likely not be taking the cart out for a long time anyway.

I'm happy we've decided to each get a copy though, now I get to enjoy the benefits of both. Also, he'll likely grow tired of the game long before me, so I'll probably have the opportunity to make a second island down the road.

I hope you are aware you will need a second Nintendo Switch console to make a second island.

I wanted to buy digital for the main reason that I would always have the game available in my switch. I have since changed my tune after reading about digital vs physical games and how when you buy the digital game you are essentially buying a license to play the game forever. Same goes with the physical, but there have been extremely rare circumstances where a game is removed from the e-shop, and unavailable to be redownloaded despite purchase. I wouldn't have that problem with digital. I know it's a sliver and tiny chance but it's enough to convince moi.

Physical copys take more space, you can lose it, you can spill water by accident over the game xD If it's digital you have it on the switch all the time, it will come in time! With preorder it can happen that you get the game a few days later, nobody will take the game away from you :) I am all for digital. I only buy digital on my ps4 since years and oh boy was that a good desicion :)

We are aware, but thanks for making sure. We have a Switch now that will become his, and I have the limited edition AC Switch pre ordered for myself.

This game is actually the first switch game I've decided to get a digital copy of over a physical one. My reason was because it's one less item to possibly have damaged/lost. As long as I take real good care of my switch I won't have to run the risk of buying another $60 game to access my town. Also, just for the ease of access wherever I'm at, no need for the cartridge to play.

A lot of the reasons I would have gotten a physical copy over a digital one have been rendered moot by the lack of transferring between systems and such. :(

I just prefer a physical game! I've only bought digital once but don't really like it that way since it's stuck to one DS... (๑꒪ㅁ꒪๑)

No, I've thought about it and I can't think of a single good reason to buy a physical copy over digital apart from being able to sell it I guess.

And what kind of monster would ever sell their Animal Crossing?

When NewLeaf came out, my dad decided it was best for me to have a DIGITAL copy, so I wouldn't have to worry about losing it or it getting ruined.

However, I heard that DIGITAL copies have a higher risk of getting corrupted. ;-;
But this has not happened to me in New Leaf, thankfully. ^^

oh yeah i remember that, i feel like a fair bit of digital copies of new leaf got corrupted:<

I've read reports from a bunch of TBT members that their New Leaf digital copy isn't available for download anymore and they need to buy a new copy, probably because of the Welcome Amiibo update, so maybe keep that in mind?

I myself decided to go for both and buy a digital AND physical copy, but I'd argue a physical one is better if you have to chose.

I had a limited AC edition of 3DS, so my copy came preinstalled. Because of this when my save data became corrupted I ended up losing my town, which was devastating. If I had a cartridge, I would still have all my data.
